Looks like all the horror stories about imageline's shite support are true. Now i feel like an idiot for messing jason about, despite fully believing that i was allowed to sell this legally, as i had been told.

Imageline need a kick up the arse to sort out their transfer policy. Either allow it or don't, most companies seem to manage.
must say that's pretty piss poor on IL's end. if they would have told you straight out NO the first time it'd be different, but to say yes then no = shitty. doesn't matter who told you either, all employees should know the policies. i feel for you quince.

What made you believe otherwise? I did a quick search and did not locate any posts where you received a permission to sell your license. Can you post a link?

Just like with all rules, there are exceptions ofcourse. I recall the rule has been bent under extraordinary circumstances, but that was a rare occasion.

First time i ever used the support on the site, i believe it was a private support message i posted, as i fairly quickly received a reply from a member of staff. it wasn't on the public forum, which i never used anyway.

Don't try to imply i'm pulling a fast one becasue i'm not. I'm a software devloper, i take licensing seriously, and have always asked permission before selling software.

Frankly, imageline made a cock-up, as they did when they decided to have a "flexible"(read: shite) policy on license transfers. I don't give a sideways f**k if they tell me not to sell, but they should have said that from the start.

I am not implying anything, simply asking a question.

Just out of curiousity - did you try to resolve the misunderstanding in a civilized and polite manner privately over email prior to posting your tirade here?

Yep.

I got an impolite email from some big fish at imageline, so i apologised for any trouble caused, then told him the problem and gave him the name of the person who told me it was OK to transfer.

I have no problem with civil, i have a problem with the fact that i have seen Imageline people here generally being quite shitty in the past, and now being shitty to me via email for their mistake.

Oh, and their bloody stupid and confusing license transfer policy. Not your fault i'm sure mirabebe, but it sure as buggery isn't mine either! They should either allow transfers or don't, it isn't too complex.

Thanks! I'll keep in mind next time i need it.

Feel free to use your new knowledge on your previous post with the long URLs .

There isn't a "confusing license policy" - it's actually fairly simple one: license is not transferrable.

Any exceptions to that were granted on an individual basis by people in charge. I don't see this as anything different from how it happens in real-world really, do you see it differently?

You did however have a chance to personally appeal to them and convince them to re-consider their position. With a right approach and reasonable argument this can be done (and a mistake by employee is a very reasonable argument) - i think you had a pretty good chance to success.

But i think you may have lost that chance by dragging it out in public in a manner that you did - they don't respond well to that. This also is not any different from real-world either.

You didn't say: "Pretty Please?"...

well.

Im sorry if i caused any trouble.

I just saw a good deal and went to take it, now i wish i didnt speak up.

o well.

thanks anyway quincy.

no difference:

buy a tascam tape recorder, make a few tapes with it, then sell it to a friend. Tascam didnt get any money from that sale, but its perfectly legal.

I would still buy fl studio anyways if I were you. I feel you will love it.

Please, call me Brice.

I understand ILs policy is NOT to allow license transfers; but that becomes cloudy when transfers are done with their approval.
Why TTOZ and not Quincy?
Why Ixox and not Quincy?
What is the criteria?

It doesn't matter to me, I'm going to keep my copy..(might even use it someday)
but it just makes them look shitty when stuff like this comes up..Of course, I don't think they give a whiff about that.
