I can see some merit in (optionally?) being able to show those controls only for the band being edited (as in the second mock-up image), and none when they are no band is being edited (as in the third mock-up image).

While editing the line guides should remain. When not editing they could be removed too
"Being edited" means that the mouse is clicked near one of the nodes

Perfect, that´s what I mean. GUI optimization par excellence
Maybe a mouse hover over the node displays the handles of this node?
Could be the first little step, if possible and Vojtech likes it. Have some more ideas

No, sorry, that's a very bad move - one would need to first click on a band to be actually able to edit it. That's a workflow killer.

How about the controls and guidelines appearing when the mouse is "close to" a node? No need for any click, and "close to" can be decided by you.

There are many possibilities, first clicking to change parameters is not good, but like I already said and Dark Star also mentioned, hover over the node and the handles are there. For me it´s more a workflow killer to open the bands view first, because of changing parmters of nodes that are nearby each other and I can´t change the handle I like to change in the graph view. I´d prefer a workflow without the bands view.

Well, from my point of view - it rarely happens to have bands too close to each other, if so, then you are probably doing too much
. DarkStar's idea isn't ideal either, besides technical stuff I don't want to ellaborate, you'd actually need to first move to a band and then move the mouse along the handles so that it doesn't disappear... bleee... horrible
. No no, it will stay the way it is. In the extreme cases you just need to open the band settings, or used the band list below.

Band settings and band list blow up the GUI in a useless way, no benefit, would be great to see a threshold there for dynamic equing and an input level for the different bands.

I don't see close bands ever a problem with the mousewheel zoom feature. They can be practically on top of each other at default/100% zoom, and perfectly adjustable with a flick of a finger.
Not like any eq adjustment at that precision actually mattered, but this EQ makes such minutely detailed twiddling possible anyway- a nice, educative pastime in the land of non-audible frequency tweaks!

Yes! It's more accurate anyway..jon wrote:Click & hold on the node while using mousewheel to see the info/details box.
