Just sayin...
"Today, Ableton announced the release of its hotly anticipated Live iteration, Ableton Live 10. The Berlin-based company is releasing Live 10 as a public beta, with a final release scheduled for February 2018."

All major DAWS have this feature in the meantime, I don't understand what the problem is.
Funny that you mention that. I'm in a big Facebook group of ableton live users and i made a poll back in September asking the community what they wanted in A10.
vST3 support was quite literally at the bottom of the list. The top results being piano roll enhancements, fixing the infamous pitch glitch, etc.

I don't think as many people care about it as you think they do. I mean that respectfully of course. It would be nice to have but I never Even use vst3 honestly. I imagine many are the same.
On the other side your poll may have not been representative about Ableton Live users overall.

There's also a help topic on their Homepage which is open since ages with that VST3 issue.
And as I stated, there are plugins now which do not release anymore as VST2, so passing on these customers would be not that good of a strategy. But maybe Auto Tune is out of fashion and not used by anyone anymore :)

Same goes for MPE, which should be also a standard feature in every new major DAW version.
Fair enough.
I'm not against vst3 I was just posting my experiences in the community. Also if it's a variable the community i posted the poll In was big on EDM. Dubstep and Future bass, etc. Not sure if that could effect the results.
To be honest MPE is bigger than vst3 imo. My lone disappointment is the lack of MPE. Not enough to make me withhold myself from throwing cash at this upgrade. Just a lone Vex

If I understand correctly, VST3 has been something of a flop, no?
I thought it was very telling that Propellerhead, adding VST from scratch, didn’t bother with it. What an odd choice, I thought … and then, I can’t remember the exact reason they gave, but it amounted to VST3 really isn’t taking off, and they didn’t see it as a platform worth doing.
If Ableton are ALSO ignoring it, I think it gets somewhat consigned to Steinberg Cubase, plus a couple of others that added it as a tick list thing rather than because it has much of a future… Ableton and Reason are fairly big programmes in terms of mass recognition and appeal...

Personally, I don't see myself getting the upgrade - 9.x.x is fine with me for what little I use it. I have the standard version so M4L integration is of no interest and I have more than enough VST instrument and FX plugins that the included ones don't thrill me at all. No VST3 support is my biggest issue, I don't want to keep two versions of plugins installed or be forced to use the VST2 option just because Live doesn't use VST3's. Also, it's probably just me but I think the upgrade price is pretty high or just not worth it for me. Not trying to convince anyone either way, just my opinion.

Yes, will probably get it, too. But still hoping that Devs/Managers of Ableton read here and will possibly add VST3/MPE in an minor version like they did with Multi CPU support or Multi Monitor support in 9.1/2

Some nice improvements, but I'm very underwhelmed given the amount of time they spent between 9 and 10.
I couldn't agree with you more. As soon as I saw the video, I said to myself, "Oh God, another wavetable synth?" "Integrated Max for Live?" "Many small improvements?" I've been waiting forever for them to add a better browser, skinning, a real scissor tool and many other things that should have been there for years already. For all of those that will appreciate the new features that Ableton has added with the release of Live 10, I'll be happy for them at least. For me, I am seriously underwhelmed and disappointed with this upgrade. Actually saddened would be the correct word for how I feel about this.

I thought that from the video too - just some more devices (that I don’t need) and some minor workflow things.

Then I read the full list at the bottom, and when you combine all that stuff it’s actually a fairly huge update to the core programme and functioning. So I’m in, I think it’s a very good upgrade taken as a whole. It’s just the video really doesn’t do it justice.

I forgot about that one also. I'll throw that in my pile of disappointments as well.

And as far as I know, there are no VST3 only plugins ***BUT*** I see Steinberg is doing only doing VST3 on Mac, alongside AU (so no VST2 support on Mac) and then VST2 + VST3 on Windows.

I could be wrong, but I couldn't find anything else as a VST3 only release.

Still it makes sense that Steinberg is the one dropping VST2 support (even if it is only on Mac and comes with AU support).

Some improvements have been made with VST3. Especially sidechain routing should be easier, which i am still missing in Live 9. It's quite a workflow killer when you want to route the kick drum to sidechain input of multiple 3rd party VSTs.

Does 10 have Midi Chase and Touch mode Automation Record?

A high stakes gamble from Steinberg there, and how many years has VST3 been out now, with little uptake?
Their efforts to ditch VST2.x just aren’t going well for them.

Live 10 - if it doesn’t include VST3 - is far worse news for Steinberg than it is for Ableton and its users ;-)

I would consider the new devices as icing on the cake. Workflow improvements might seem minor, but in practice they are actually well thought out.

And wait until you use Echo... Its a worthy delay plugin thats only disappointing because its native to Live.
