whats the CPU hit compared to zebra though?

Zebra isn't a hard hitter.
And what's the use if you don't like the sound.
Anyways, there's always synth1 and a reverb right?

Cool, thanks I'll try to reproduce it - Yeah oddly that initial theme (that you just posted) is different from the 'Default' theme, once you change it you can't get that theme back using the buttons on the right

Dunno if i do something wrong, but, i don't get any sound out of oscillator 2 in the demo.

You have to select a waveform for it to sound.

Seems Patrick has also removed in Sampler and now this the ability to reproduce colour schemes using Hex Numbers.

I can't confirm that it is "digital" sounding BTW. Sounds as analog as the other TAL synths, and, especially the filters sound quite analog. Just a different flavour of analog, more reminiscent of the Roland synths. Reminds me of TAL-Noisemaker. Including, unfortunately, the quite slow envelopes. But, i guess that's reminiscent of the Roland stuff as well.

I am liking this synth a lot, and I thought I was done with analogue emus.

I find the UI clear, I understood every control almost at first sight.

About the sound, this is a very subjective thing, I really love it. Filters, oscs, fm, pw modulation... etc work as they should, the core sound is beautiful and that´s the main thing for me. With a little help of a couple of good external effects the synth just sounds gorgeous.

yep, I'm clicking like a mofo with this thing.
you can accomplish many of the same things with many synths
so sometimes it just comes down to the interface and workflow that
gets you the sound you are after quickly. i was able to get a groovy
bass track in a couple minutes using the sequencer.

I played with it a little more. It certainly isn't the fattest synth around but you can certainly get it to sound analog. Part of the 'problem' seems to be the filter design. You can let an oscillator bypass the filter. When you completely bypass the 2 filters, you get a very bright component in your sound with the expected waveforms. So, when you let an oscillator bypass filter1, it's advised to let that oscillator be processed by filter 2 to tame the high frequencies. If you bypass both filters, you get harsh sounds.
I guess we'll still have to see what the potential of this synth is.
I'm still much more a fan of the concept of Zebra and the filter implementation in Zebra.
Off course Zebra is in a different price range.

I think his designs are always simple, very good old school sounding synths.

Same here : some lovely presets, but nothing unheard before. It's a nice one anyway. I don't think I'll purchase it, as it lacks something "special".

I thought that too... Not only are they different animals. But there is a total price disparity...

Anyway, I love Zebra but I'm sure this is going to be another cracking release from TAL.

+1 Zebra comparison is pointless. First impression is it's very easy to dial in pleasing tones.
