Would love to hear your guitars !!! :D

Ok, I'm done with the competition now so i can do this. I'll post you some samples later on tonight.

I can also take clean samples from my competition entry where i played rhythm and a little lead.
have a listen and let me know if you want clean samples of any of this.

Oki, here's some more (I always record DI, so this was easy for me - just filched a few bits from my songs :D )

I noticed that what you've got so far seems to be mostly rawk and metel/widdling, so I've put a few strummy/picked indie type bits in for you;

Guitar is a cheapy generic Washburn 'superstrat' (model kc-20v), all done with back pickup.

That is true !
Thanks for the info about the output gain.

I would love to see a classic acoustic guitar too.
A better 12 sting, a virtual capo would be great !
Waiting for Workbench then we see. :D

Thanks donkey tugger, they worked very well too. :)

Thats what I mean, different players have different styles.
Then the distortion reacts different too.

Cool song Lady J,
whatever you have is very welcome !
Longer lead notes would be cool to check out the sustain.

Lady J, what did you used to get that distortion in the song ?

Cheers Midiworks

I used IK Multimedia's amplitube and some of the Toneheaded presets I've designed for the guitar distortion, speaker simulation, etc. And yes I will play ya some legato lead riffs as well.

Alrighty-Dokey, then. Here's a contribution for ya:

1. A "complete" song -- heres a song, including drums, bass, 2 rhythm guitars, and 1 solo. I had thrown it together rather quickly when I was teaching my dad about recording on the computer. It's blues, so there are no bad-ass riffs, but it IS meant to be a rock-blues. I decided that I'd encode the silences as well so that the tracks will line up against one-another without any tweaking, so there's a bit of wasted space, making the file-sized bigger, but I hope it's worth the convenience:

For both 'rhythm' guitars, I recorded with an acoustic. The mic'ed acoustic track might not work so well with distortion. The riff track was recorded with a Dean Markley Pro-Mag soundhole pickup, which is actually a single-coil low-output pickup. As it turns out, it sounded better with light distortion than my electrics did.

The solo is recorded with a Yamaha Pacifica 302, which is a tele-style guitar. I used the bridge pickup, though, which is a mini-humbucker I put in called a "Little 59" by Seymour Duncan.

The completed track, the way I mixed it if you want a reference point... not that you need to emulate what I did or anything.

2. Some guitar parts from my current project. I didn't include drums or bass this time, but I DID maintain the theme of recording the silences. This affects the Godin rhythm track, which comes in after 16 measures, but REALLY affects the solo, which is actually very short and comes in much later. That's a lot of silence, but again I figured it would be helpful for lining up the tracks. The download ends up being pretty small anyhow. In each rhythm part there are verse, bridge, and chorus riffs. The solo is done over the chorus riffs.

Guitars:

-Main riff>> Godin LG with SD P-90s. Recorded in bridge position. If you get lots of string noise and treble, that's pretty standard for a bridge position P-90 played inattentively. ;)

-Secondary riff>> The Pacifica with the bridge humbucker again.

-Solo>> Same as above

Hope those are helpful. For what it's worth, I owe my allegiance to another great distortion/amp plugin, but I'm not against helping someone out a bit. ;) You can never have too many distortions. <grin>

OK, I'll do some stringing tomorrow (it's way past midnight overhere).

I'll play some lousy notes in random order that some might think of as carefully composed, but in fact it is just my attempt to just do it.

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, Midiworks, my music machine hasn't been at home the last two days.

Anyways, here's just a few sounds. The non-Dry-indicated MP3s are played similar as the dry ones, just to demonstrate what it approximately should sound like (I could've split the sound and reroute into the Vamp but been too lazy, so I just recorded two versions). All done with my Tom Anderson.

Those kinda half distorted things IMO are where all amp sims lack.
PU used: Neck, parallel mode.

Bit of Lenny Kravitz stylish.
PU used: Neck, humbucker mode.

Some standard riff.
PU used: Bridge, humbucker mode.

Dry and "wet" playing only approximately similar.
PU used: Switches between Neck and Bridge humbuckers.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.
