While omnisphere's presets and overall capabilities are really good, having 6 more than capable synths for trance already I don't really see a need for omnisphere unless you really believe it offers you something for you in sound design or workflow, otherwise you'd be way better off just investing maybe $50? for trance presets on some of the synths you already own
Omnisphere is an okay value as a starting point just because of the abundance of content but with ~$800? already invested in soft synths I don't think the value is really there unless you really believe it is and you're interested in sound design as only maybe 5% of the presets will be useful to you

Well Zexila if you really used to listen to trance as a genre you should understand that its very very very very....very (i dont know how much time this can be repeated) undefined in terms of exact sound and has alot of subgenres. That you used to produce psy-trance does mean something that you have some expertise in psy trance? wich is well quite bounded as a subgenre, but not trance itself. And yea i have expertise, i used to priduce trance, i have been listening to various kind trance subgenres since 90s, i have been making as my dayjob music related to trance.Zexila wrote:Elektronisch wrote:Im curious, what makes you think this way?Zexila wrote:No, Omnisphere isn't really going to give you anything worthwhile for trance considering what you already got, you are better off just buying few nice trance sound banks for synths you have.Other synth he got cover everything Omnisphere has to offer and more, especially concerning given genre of interest, Omnisphere will not deliver anything new, not for that price tag, but if he have money to burn, than it's just another brush I guess. I was making psytrance before if that counts and listening to trance music long before that, if that counts for anything, again, what's your so big expertise in the genre?Elektronisch wrote:
Ok really, guys you are being offensive here, and to say something like"Given what you have, for Trance, you don't need it." is the least ignorant if not absurd answer. Its same like saying, oh for orchestra music you only need string instruments, thats it. You probably dont even imagine how wide and versitile the genre is. I dont want to be offensive but you clearly dont know this genre and probbably heard only Robert Miles Children.
To topic creator, dont listen to the guys, they dont know what they are talking about or have knowledge of it.
That's mostly good sound design, as it happens most banks for synths are for festival EDM and some trance ones get pretty generic and uninspiring too, but folks like Aiyn Zahev always deliver quality and versatility:Trancer wrote:And a search for its more organic, Omnisphere seems to have richer sounds, for example the pads, more ample, warm, deep, more alive, less artificial. Omnisphere with all the effects on board, the arpeggiator, really looks very complete and very versatile. The reason for my questioning about the relevance of omnisphere 2 as a purchase.
There's more banks for other synths you use:

http://sound.artenuovo.com/
Look into Lunaris also:
https://www.luftrum.com/lunaris/
You are essentially covered, but if you want to add another synth to your arsenal that have that deep/warm/organic flavor you seek and delivers for trance all the way, it's Diva by U He, there's even pretty dead on JP 8000/8080 oscillator emulation as part of it, also some of the best sound banks are made for it by the likes of Aiyn Zahev, Arksun, Luftrum, Joseph Hollo, The Unfinished and more:
https://u-he.com/products/diva/
https://www.luftrum.com/
http://www.arksun-sound.com/
http://www.theunfinished.co.uk/
Here's some banks for it:
And not that its a problem as a suggestion Omnisphere 2 is a waste, but puting trance music in to stereotypical form that its only about supersaws and jps and only about electronic instrument sounds witch is not true at all. If you really do listen alot of this music and a big variety of it you should understand that even more. Its like alot of people who have no idea about music in general hear scooter and say its techno.
As a matter of fact Omnisphere 2 is quite a bang for a buck just to have a variety of sounds ranging from ambiences to real world instruments.
And just throwing few tracks to listen how it varied can be
(i used to talk alot with this artist and he raved alot how awesome Omnisphere 1 is for hard trance)

Still two dedicated instruments can outperform it in both ambiances and real world instruments, it's bang for the buck when you don't have anything, but when you have what OP have, it's not that much, he have small hole to fill in, Omnisphere will overlap so much with everything and what is left could be filled with something dedicated better.Elektronisch wrote:As a matter of fact Omnisphere 2 is quite a bang for a buck just to have a variety of sounds ranging from ambiences to real world instruments.
For example this runs circles around Omnisphere as far real world instrument goes and right now if there's a need for real world instruments, this thing will fill that hole nicely, Omnisphere will barely scratch the surface.
Wag's pretty much sumed everything up, if he didn't had what he had, sure, but now, he really needs specialized things to complete the arsenal and that's really my opinion, Omnisphere is not going to do him much, sure, if he have money why not, but if not, my advice is to look for specialized tools.
All the best.

Hello everyone,
Sincerely THANK YOU for all your answers.
I'll answer you later.
Can you tell me if Omnisphere is used in this title for the orchestral part and choirs.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Without even listening to it, there is no way to tell what instrument(s) are used on any given piece with all the processing that's done to get things to sound the way they sound. Anybody here who says it is or isn't Omnisphere is just guessing.Trancer wrote:Hello everyone,

Omnisphere doesn't have your regular sustained orchestral string samples, so most likely it wasn't done with Omnisphere.

Thank you for your explanation and your answer.
At the time, because this title is not recent, were there no orchestral sound banks and hearts for Omnisphere?
What vst could do that sort of thing, mix the orchestral part and hearts?

You are again better off just buying Nexus orchestral expansion, way more usable for that than Omnisphere.

If he already has Nexus, I agree. Omnisphere for orchestral stuff is very weak in comparison to specialized VSTs.Zexila wrote:You are again better off just buying Nexus orchestral expansion, way more usable for that than Omnisphere.

Thank you to all of you.
I meant choirs.
It's true there are expansions for Nexus 2, I'll listen to that.
There are more specific VSTs, like at East West Symphonic for example and it seems to me that it takes Kontakt to make it work.
thanks again

There's some great stuff for Kontakt, choirs and solo vocals, Clara ones are great in my opinion for trance, there's more specialized stuff, you are better off just opening new thread for that alone.
