Pretty much my favorite song. I love Prince, but the Sinead version is the definitive version.

Could be wrong but I thought Sinead performed it first as it was written for her.. so Prince would technically be the cover?

Edit: i should have mentioned that this is a very successful version of the song! Made all because one man's field recordings of birds were often wrecked by dogs barking; and he occasionally was chased by dogs as well:
