Looks like a decent update. The new automation improvements are very welcome, combining simple and ping-pong into one delay will be handy too. For all the complaints people had with Live 10 seeming less than impressive for the price, it's these significant point updates that make it worth the upgrade fees, that and the amount of extra content that has been added to Suite over the last year alone.

Can you draw automation with selected shape with pencil tool or is it only by inserting at certain point?
I couldn't figure this out yet
Also yay for S =Solo
now M for mute

Relax please.Trancit wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 4:59 pmCould you all stop talking about this f*ckin MPE support as if music couldn´t be done without it...Spencer Maddox wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 3:46 pm Update is absolutely Fantastic.
Still no Integrated MPE however?
Almost a Dream Update minus that.
Dios mio... every second word on kvr is MPE support...![]()
If someone listen to you all, it sounds like all DAW´s have stopped working except the one´s doing MPE... and what´s behind it??? A perhaps nice to have gimmick but that´s it...![]()
Another proove that marketing works...
You are acting like I just went on a rant against Ableton because of MPE, All I said was one sentence, I just think It stinks that It does not have MPE yet because Bitwig, Cubase, Logic all easily support it and Ableton is the Odd man Out here. And when It prides itself on being a LIVE daw, and MPE is a very useful LIVE tool, I feel like it's an omission.
And It's not Exactly a gimmick, of-course you can make music without it but I've found using my Seaboard with Bitwig to be a Blast as far as creativity and making more innovative sounds is concerned. It makes it all more fun in a way. All I said was it was an ideal Update besides that, sorry if other people go on and on about MPE But I was not aware, nor was I trying to beat an apparently Dead Horse.
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

Gimmick? I suppose it might seem like a gimmick to someone who does not own an MPE controller. But for those who do, how, exactly is polyphonic expression a gimmick?Trancit wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 4:59 pm Could you all stop talking about this f*ckin MPE support as if music couldn´t be done without it...

Support for that will surely require a bit more encouragement and testing before its ready
But as is always the case a feature that is so important to one is irrelevant to another. A matter of individual taste really.

As someone who doesn't own an MPE controller, and probably never will, and who isn't really a keyboardist...i can totally sympathize with the whole MPE thing. i think a big oversight in the early days of keyboard controllers was a real lack of the expressiveness you can find in more traditional instruments, and as a guitar player, i find there to be a real disconnect between me and the sound when using a synth. Even just aftertouch was a bit of a revelation when i bought my first hardware synth (which had it). But i think Live is really built for the 'producer' types, who aren't too concerned with audio (late PDC implementation, latency crap when monitoring, no comping, etc.) and aren't instrumentalists (no MPE). For those of us that fall into these categories...we have to just keep hacking it as best we can and moaning about stuff because it's still a gem of a program.
Regardless, i looked at these updates and am really impressed. Even little things, like merging the delays and sidechain freezing. i would still love a tab to transient function for manual chopping, clip-based editing (and fx) and being able to freeze certain parts of a chain and leaving the rest editable. Reaper does all three wonderfully but i strongly dislike Reaper.
i'm traveling at the moment and got to walk by Ableton's HQ last week. i thought about yelling 'why no comping, bro?' loudly from the street.

Ironically Push could have been a superb MPE controller (like at the linnstrument!) I think until they do an MPE Push they wont be too bothered. Ableton really like the hardware side of their business (who can blame them given the amount of piracy!) so making Live MPE without offering their own MPE solution may not be good business for them.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Good point. Why discard that money?SLiC wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 7:08 pm Ironically Push could have been a superb MPE controller (like at the linnstrument!) Bringing out their own controller with support for MPE makes a lot of sense for Ableton business.
So Live 11 then

I've always felt Live's point updates negated (somewhat) the perception that updates were not worth the money - eventually enough features make it to the fold to keep most of us happy.
Favorite new feature is so small but so awesome - the ability to type the automation value. How many times trying to return some gain knob to "-3 db" and zooming out 'cause I'm scrolling "-2.96, -2.98, -3.03..." wait, wtf?!?
Gain faders on clips - faster please. Didn't know I needed this till I watched my band's producer in ProTools. Bonus points for midi clip "increase all velocities"

Great update! I really want to switch to vst3 versions of my plugins...but that means I need to reinstall more than a hundered plugins
Will it be possible to let Live detect and use both vst3 and vst2 at the same time?
Another thing... what happen if I open older project with ping-pong delay/simple delay? Does Delay replaces them or there will be three delay effects in live
NVM, the update notes says there will be an upgrade button available when opening old poject

As a matter of fact Push can transmit poly aftertouch (because it has an AT sensor on each pad), shame Live doesn't support it.

Note that, if you MIDI Assign an Audio Clip's gain fader (in the Clip View) to a MIDI controller's knob, then it actually works for any selected Audio Clip afterwards.JoeCat wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 7:48 pm Gain faders on clips - faster please.
