Where did i lie?

Where did i tell things which are not true,
or which are misleading?

And wheter you believe me or not: I am not ignoring you.

Jo
Cool with me. Am still a (sniff) user. Must have a bit more patience than some of the other kids, I guess :)

Well, I'm here from just a too short time to speak about lies or stuff like that... for me I'd like to know just why the shop has never been re-opened

Post

Jeez guys..has it occured to anyone that there may be personal reasons he closed shop?

As in, a period of prolonged stress from a new job, a re-location, a sick family member, anything like that?

I thought his message on the web site was pretty clear when I saw it what, a year ago? At least he's not accepting money for a host that is currently unsupported.

I was really intrested in Muzys last year, & I was disapointed not to have my inquiries replied to, but shit man, it's not like what Bitheadz did..at least he let everyone know he was unsure about what he was gonna do with it instead of bieng there one minute & GONE the next, like no webspace, nothing.

Some ppl in here are behaving like psychopomps..just give the guy a break already & let him figure out what he's gonna do..for all you know, he's re-writing the code from the ground up, but who knows besides him? It's not like there's other hosts you can't use in the same price range till it gets sorted for good or worse..As cool as Muzys was, it's a little outdated ATM...so f**k the crack, get a newer generation host. If Jo came back on the scene with a huge update I could see existing users getting some really good treatment for thier inconvieniance. Learn eXT in the meantime, & when/if Muzys returns, you can still use eXT as a VSTi inside Muzys & you have lost nothing & gained everything..

How hard could that possibly be?

@ Jo:

You are free to do whatever you want. You have your reasons for things being the way they are, & I accept that. It's easy to seee through the anger of some ppl here that they are aggressive loyalists.

I encourage you to communicate with your user base even if it's only by a token amount; even that very small post you made was better to see than wondering if you're alive or dead I'd imagine. ppl will probably rally just seeing you post here today.

It has to feel good to be respected to the point where your 'children' vilify you for 'turning your back' on them.

Later,

Jo!! You're back!! My goodness, this is a pleasant surprise! And I am not being sarcastic. Glad you're OK and hope that everything is well.

As for the bit about you lying, this was only an inference on my part. I simply based this on the fact that you have been so uncommunicative about the future of Muzys after having told us all that things were moving along. Prolonged silence, in this case, has simply led me to abandon hope that further development would be taking place. And you did say that an OSX port was on the way. Things move fast in this wired world of ours. 10 months of not knowing what's going on can seem like a looonng time. If I have offended you through my "lying at worst" comment, then I am sorry. I honestly assumed that everything was over. No hard feelings, I hope.

I know you must have your reasons for not actively pursuing development. (Who knows? Maybe you ARE actively pursuuing development?) And I do respect your right to keep any personal reasons for doing so just that... personal. I also know that you do not really owe any of us anything. As I've said before, on a human level I hope whatever decisions you make about your future (continuing with Muzys, abandoning it, open sourcing it, selling the code and moving to Tahiti, whatever...) bring you satisfaction. If Muzys is indeed over, then I for one enjoyed the ride and will be looking somewhere else for some software-based inspiration.

Please know, though, that your lack of communication has been frustrating to many of us. Muzys had a very fervent and dedicated user community, and going through the posts in this thread it should be obvious that many of us feel a bit abondoned and confused. (yes, yes... I know... boo friggiin hoo, cry me a river! :violin:) If you say you're not ignoring us, then OK, I will take your word for it. But an update note once in a while would actually demonstrate this.

Since you're communicating again, any update on your future plans for Muzys?

Hi Jo

Edit: Forgot to say, "lie" is too harsh a word, but misleading is close to what happened

You said you were going into the Muzys Lab to make the OSX port, and had us believing that the rest of the stuff on the to do list would be done after the port, like
- hard disk recording
- more mixing desk channels
- etc
and then soon after the shop closed, and months later you came out and told us that Muzys would stop development (for how long?) and it was all very vague and bizarre.

As one of the biggest advocates of Muzys at the time (along with the other Muzers) I helped with all the beta testing and feature suggestions, investing alot of time and effort into Muzys. So when you dropped the bombshell about Muzys I (we) were shocked and disheartened with good reason.

If it was for personal reasons that's none of my business and I understand, but you could have paid us the respect to let us know what was going on alot more clearly so we would understand. You could have said "I won't be developing Muzys at all for an indefinite amount of time, so don't expect updates" and you could have told us earlier instead of keeping us hanging. Do you know a number of us on here were genuinely worried about you (if you were having personal or health issues) so it would've been nice to know alot earlier that you were ok at least :)

That's just my 2 cents as a formerly huge Muzys fan - as it stands now I've gone to another host (energyXT) which I feel as excited about as I did with Muzys. Maybe you could just take the time (once and for all) to let everyone know what is happening with Muzys, as I know there are some people hanging out to see what happens with it. Too late for me I'm afraid...

Chris aka scam_artist (formerly Breakbeat Cowboy when I was beta testing Muzys)

PS What I still don't understand is what happened with Computer Muzys - the guys at Computer Music magazine seemed as confused as the rest of us about what was going on... :?
