i would like to thank everyone for their help, but they still don't work. i have the commands right, and the keys mapped out, but they don't work in my program. this shit is too complicated for a older musician, not a computer guy. so i would love to add these 3 commands as a feature request: 1. show files 2. show actions,3. show search (for files).

Macros are an "advanced" feature that requires a knowledge of javascript but that doesn't mean a simple macro can't be created by non-programmers.
I notice in your screenshot that you don't actually have a keyboard shortcut assigned.Have you tried to assign to a key combination that is already taken? If you do I think the assignment is blocked. I seem to remember that CTRL + 1 is assigned to marker navigation but may be wrong. Try making another assignment that is definitely free and see if it works.
