(BTW, he was the guitarist on a project I worked on long ago and he was seriously one of the nicest humans I’ve ever met.)
I saw him at the 92nd St. Y in NYC in the late 70s performing Bach's Chaconne as well as some of his own pieces. Some apparently questioned the sincerity of that album which might have been a factor in Metheny's collaboration with Derek Bailey a few years later.
