YELLOW IS GOOD!! please, no more purple

Post

I prefer purple because I'm used to Eclipse, but yellow goes well too.

I am not a fan of this new skin.

I do prefer though on it, the preset browser, and that you can pop up/enlarge the sequencer and shape sequencer, compared to the original.

I wish it was darker. too bright for me, and I think it needs more colour.
If you consider it has three horizontal panels, Voice, LFO and Vibrato, (using the first labels to upper left of each) if only the middle was lighter and the top and bottom one darker I feel I would have liked it more, that is you reverse the darker and lighter elements.

It also requires me to undo a lot of muscle memory which I don't like.

I had a more detailed critique that I am sure will get to you.

There is an issue with the rendering of various parts of the skin when it's at 100% (and from what I can see above probably at all levels until you hit 200%). It seems it's designed for use with a Retina/HiDPI display running at 200% size. I know from trying other Plugmon skins this isn't a new issue but I am way too OCD to use a skin on my 1920 x 1080 monitor in 2021 that has clear aliasing/artifacts. Take the oscillator selector for instance, this is how 'Square' is rendered for me :-

Notice in particular how poorly the q appears. You'll see the issues in the grey ring around the knob too.. It's a shame as I like the layout and there are some great ideas here but as long as these rendering issues exist I can't see myself ever using a Plugmon skin until I have the screen real estate to run at 200%
Retina/Non retina compatiblity is headaching. Retina requires large images, and large images easily glitch in non-retina.
Thin lined circles tend to make aliases so I might have to thicken them...

Font issue is a bit different perspective, because it's rendered by u-he's GUI system, not static images. So it is expected that fonts are immune to resizes. Not sure why only "q" gets such thinner.

Aren't you using 2 displays (one retina, the other non-retina) and drag GUI window between them?
I've experienced harder glitches when doing that.

You used a non-bold Q there ;)

I have the same issue. All other letters are fine

We're now adapting all assets and colour profiles when dragging from one screen to another, if it's using a different colour profile/resolution.

Can't look at if for more than a minute. Way too much brightness or white.

And it's so laggy here on my Mac.

I'm sure that would help! The similar issues I've seen in some of your other skins are always on thin/fine lines.

Hmm, that's very odd then, as I've not noticed any text rendering issues like this in any other U-he plugins :?:

I'm using a single 1920 x 1080p screen, no multi-monitor setup here!

2. The MW doesn't move at all when dragged.
Sounds a bit like a weird installation issue, or the plugin for some reason could not load all elements quickly enough when changing skins.
Can you try switching to the regular skin and then back to Izmo, to see if the missing elements appear?
Or, if this doesn't help, run the installer again, restart your DAW, and maybe even your computer.

plugmon wrote: Thu Jan 21, 2021 2:19 pm Colorful - Monochrome
It is too monochrome.
Some ideas if I may:
- Colorize the waveform and filter displays, to add balance (purple like in Eclipse would go well IMO).
I made the same suggestion, but purple on black is not great for contrast IMO. I created my own personal Eclipse Mod (won't be sharing for obvious reasons) but it looks like this:

The light blue for the screens is much more legible. Particularly for small text. Purple on black just doesn't offer enough contrast for my aging eyes/setup. On a laptop in a dark room, it would be even worse.

EDIT:
Just saw Plugmon's response on the prior page (sorry, multi-tasking so not reading the thread in order). I think if it's just the graphs and not the text, purple and yellow work. Yellow would probably work for both. But please no purple text on a dark background. :)

Yeah, that did the trick. The missing elements are back. Weird.

However, neither PW or MW are moving.

Yes, I agree. That blue looks great too.
By the way, there is a new version of Eclipse, I can tell you use an older version by the logo "Hive". The new one has "Hive 2".

Yes, that was my modified skin with the blue. Never updated it. Lost the Affinity files after my last PC rebuild in a backup snafu.

I like it.

I just find the white a little intense. Maybe make it more of a lighter grey? possibly as an alternative option.

Thanks for your hard work.
