Apologies, Teezdalien. Didn't see that you'd spent real time with the original beast.
In general I find that people asserting software X 'clearly fails to replicate' or 'replicates near-perfectly' hardware synth Y generally have zero experience with the actual hardware and are basing their 'informed opinions' on youtube videos or, uh, songs they like a lot.

in this case though, i think it really does depend on what it is you want from this particular synth.
admittedly, most will want a somewhat reliable musical instrument. but for me, with the synthi, it's the temperamental nature. it is more alive than any other over long sessions.
ie: ive enjoyed listening to a sequence on one of my friends machines, and the drift on some components, meant the sound almost completely morphed in to a new sound over 20/25 mins.
the software doesn't model that side of it, so for me, the software isn't "close enough for everything i personally love about the synth" but as i said, i also admit im probably going to be in the minority here.
and i do still enjoy the reaktor version, as i say, it just misses "something".

i think it's more "some, really old components"
while they all have had work on them over the years, there's still some original parts in them.

it always seemed that the quality of ivcs3 can be compared with the original, thanks for the video. I realized that no software can repeat the authenticity of EMScoolazice wrote: Fri Jun 11, 2021 5:23 amThe same guy has also compared iVCS3 and XILS, although not all together:
