I think you can already do this by creating folders and then backing up only the folders with your own presets. No?

Yes, but if you want to export your presets manually for 20 plugins, it is really tedious. And of course, after that you have to import all of them manually again in your new pc.Starship Krupa wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 4:16 am I think you can already do this by creating folders and then backing up only the folders with your own presets. There's preset backup, which backs up all plugins.

Yes but then when you restore from the back up you lose all factory presets that are possibly added after the backup was taken, right? Or does the restore perform a merge actually?

I'm not sure it merges, I think so. But the installer definitely merges, so just reinstalling will do the trick

I think the best thing about 32 bits legacy would be keeping an installer available that only manages v15.02 32-bit plugins, and they can happily coexist side by side in the same system with newer 64-bit plugins. So who have old projects with the 32 bits can still load them even after having installed post-v15 versions. But I guess this would be quite difficult technically...

Anyway, if a new preset system is being made, the option to differenciate (optionally) factory vs user presets when exporting would be not only very useful but also logical.mabian wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 7:46 pmYes but then when you restore from the back up you lose all factory presets that are possibly added after the backup was taken, right? I don't think that's needed - after you install 15.02, you don't need to install anything anymore and just keep updating V16 for 64-bit.mabian wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 7:26 am I think the best thing about 32 bits legacy would be keeping an installer available that only manages v15.02 32-bit plugins, and they can happily coexist side by side in the same system with newer 64-bit plugins. vanerio: It's not a new preset system, only a storage format. I'm afraid what you ask for is in the current system rather difficult to do and there are already simple ways to deal with that (folders), so I don't see a need to waste the previous dev time on that, sorry.

Sounds good to me - so you would install 15.zz (whatever the latest turns out to be) to get both editions of the plug-ins, then 16.whatever to get the 64-bit plug-ins only?

Yes. The presets will survive (so 32-bit version will use the previous archive and it will be possible to copy settings from 32-bit to 64-bit, but not the other way around, adding presets in 32-bit will NOT add 64-bit presets, and vice versa).

Well, it is no as simple if you have to export and then import folders for +20 plugins/curves/multiparameters/etc.MeldaProduction wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 4:29 pm vanerio: It's not a new preset system, only a storage format. I even did this program to export just the same folder for every single xml file: Now my backups are 100kb instead of being +80MB.
It didn´t take that much time to be honest.
