You may be able to get it for around $200 - buy a license transfer from someone (maybe around $80-100), then to go to the latest version wait for a bitwig sale (couple times a year?) on the upgrade (can be discounted a little more from plugin stores) around $110.Fraggle wrote: Mon Apr 25, 2022 11:58 am Damn I wish I had $400 to spare — gonna have to do some saving up for the next few months.
Is there a DAW that doesn't crash ?

No, this is not unique to Bitwig, and it's indeed very stable in some other implementations as well. Some additional ones I'm aware of:tactile_coast wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 9:18 pm As far as I know Bitwig is the only DAW that runs the Plugins in a separate process.
In Reaper, you have the choice of running plugins in a typical native way (i.e. like traditionally, not sandboxed/separated), and also separating plugins into a shared single separate process (i.e. there's a process for the DAW itself, and another process for the plugins you wish to isolate as a group, if they for example contain interoperability/sharing between instances that is hindered by completely dedicated processes) - and lastly you can decide to run plugins in their own, singular, dedicated processes (a process per plugin). You can configure how a plugin is executed on a plugin-by-plugin basis.
In Renoise, you can enable "Run all plugins in sandboxes (separate process)" as a global setting for all plugins.

You can get 8-track Bitwig free from using the link hereFraggle wrote: Mon Apr 25, 2022 11:58 am It sounds like for my style of music bitwig will be better than logic

And then wait for a sale on the full version, or watch the for sale forum here for someone to sell it.

i think it is impossible for a DAW or app to not crash. It can happen anytime really, for severl reasons. Although energyXT seems to almost, almost mind you, never crash. Atleast on my end. Also Reaper has been very stable for me.

Renoise can sandbox plugins. Renoise only crashes for me on Windows when I change presets while holding doen notes for plugins.

I didn't know Reaper could crash. Its been so long since I've used a buggy plugin.

I don't remember which ones, and it's not predictable. It only occasionally happens.Jonas78 wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 9:04 pmPlease report bugs, what plugins are crashing Renoise on the Renoise forum (https://forum.renoise.com/c/help-support-bugs/9) if you haven't alreadyKorg Supporter wrote: Sat Apr 30, 2022 5:00 pm Renoise only crashes for me on Windows when I change presets while holding doen notes for plugins..

Reason didn't crash on me once for over 10 years. When they first opened up VST integration it crashed maybe 2 or 3 times because of buggy plugins but after an update or two it hasn't crash once for me in the last 3 years. Its extremely stable now even with multiple VST's being used on every track. I'm on Windows 10 for what's its worth.

This. You have to really work to get Reason to crash on Windows. Before they allowed VST's it was pretty impossible but even now its extremely rare. Whoever coded Reason deserves an award.jjpscott01 wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 3:15 am Reason didn't crash on me once for over 10 years. Renoise keeps track of stuff / crashes et cetera in a log file, which can be found through the Renoise gui help tab in the top of the screen. In the help menu tab go to "show the preferences folder", here you can find the log.txt file. To open it you have to close Renoise first. Either manually look for the stuff where something went wrong and share in the bug forum or you could send the complete log.txt file to the devs in private.Korg Supporter wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 12:31 amI don't remember which ones, and it's not predictable.
