I don't know what it takes to impress you, or what your expectations are (or whether your expectations are even realistic!zvenx wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 2:34 pmI am yet to be impressed by an Arturia synth sorry. (and I own Pigments)
I also tried the sonicprojects one.. nope..not impressed at all either..
Charlie Clouser over on GS dug out his Prophet VS and Matrix 12 hardware and did blind A:Bs with the Arturia ones with custom patches. At least on those examples, I can't see how anyone would say the software sounds nothing like the hardware (of course, they will anyway, we all know that...)
I also thought OP-X Pro sounded great (with a terrible interface of course!).
I could make music and great sounds on all of them... although I don't really like Pigments, it's just not my bag...
Softube's modelling seems to be pretty good, but echoing others I would have preferred something a bit more interesting for me than another SH-101 (a budget synth from back in the day I never really liked much - but it was cheap, so...) but I appreciate for some folks, the sound of that synth defines the genres of music they like, and it's up to Softube what they want to model of course.
I kind of feel Softube are getting their feet wet with modelling fairly simple synths, and as they get better at it, moving upwards to more challenging ones - they've got a massive collection of FX plugins, so it seems it's early days for their plans for instruments which seems a good area for growing the catalog...
I hope they don't sepia tone the interfaces of *everything* though...
