Please don't get me wrong but what is so special about this combo? I'm asking because this issue seems rather specific. Saving session data basically works because i can create a project load samples and save/reload the project just fine. It's just that on my end the missing sample replacement doesn't seem to work. Theoretically the same should happen with your system or any other. So i can't imagine any operation system or DAW is the problem here and assume the plugin (maybe just the VST3 version?) itself is the culprit. But who knows.
[FIXED] Battery 4 relocating samples bug - fixed in new version 4.3.1

Works exactly the same with VST3 over here, so unfortunately I cannot confirm what you're experiencing...
EDIT: Works in Live 11, too. As I said, this is not really a host dependant feature.

Yeah this part is basically the same between the two. Except Battery 4.3.0 is sharing code with Kontakt 7.1, not Kontakt 6. Still, this part about resolving missing content didn't change in some time.

Thank you very much for confirming it works for you. I'll look into it again.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 9:49 pm Works exactly the same with VST3 over here, so unfortunately I cannot confirm what you're experiencing...

Did you create the symlink I mentioned on page 1 to map old location to new?mi-os wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 9:57 pmThank you very much for confirming it works for you. Tried it again with an empty project and found something interesting. It still doesn't work when i rename a folder. But i can change a sample in a cell to another one and that change gets saved correctly. Then i tried to rename a sample file name instead of a folder name. This leads to no missing samples dialog at all. It just shows a grayed out cell with nothing loaded in it. (still didn't test with Kontakt 6 yet)
Meanwhile i got a reply from support. Very nice.

Sorry, no. I didn't try that because that's no solution for me.VitaminD wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 10:48 pm Did you create the symlink I mentioned on page 1 to map old location to new?

Ah okay. I think it could resolve your issue though, since it would 'fake' Battery into thinking the samples are in the old location. At least until NI can find a solution with their software. You could easily remove the Symlink afterwards.

Thanks for your suggestion either way. It may work very well in some situations. But i'm restructuring multiple folders at various levels and that would get really messy and too much work.VitaminD wrote: Thu Jan 19, 2023 12:15 am Ah okay. Okay. Well I hope you're not waiting too long for a solution from NI.mi-os wrote: Thu Jan 19, 2023 12:25 amThanks for your suggestion either way. It may work very well in some situations. I tried to replicate this method and it’s working noe. This problem seems to exist only on old projects with an old version of battery saved. My older projects are 3 till 8 years old. Can I send you some old Ableton projects, than you Point to factory library and save the project again. After opening it asks again for the folder.EvilDragon wrote: Wed Jan 18, 2023 9:49 pm Works exactly the same with VST3 over here, so unfortunately I cannot confirm what you're experiencing...

The only workaround to get the kit saved is a new track with battery 4, in which you load the same kit.
I have a lot of old projects where I am working on sometimes spontaneous and when I have used 2 till 5 tracks of battery 4, I can go mad. Sometimes the project is so old that I have used battery 3, in this case I don’t switch it to battery 4, because of this problem.

Sure you can post a Live project, but please just make sure it only has Battery in them and no other audio items etc.
And all of those older projects are still Battery 4, not Battery 3?

Another interesting observation. If i just close the project but not Cubase itself and then reload the saved project it works (no missing samples dialog, replaced sample loads fine). Which leads me to the assumption that the session data (or whole project) is somehow cached and that cache holds the replaced paths correctly. It looks like just the sesson data actually saved with the project is faulty. Again just an assumption since i don't know how this is actually handled by Cubase/Battery and if such a cache even exists.
(my project was created with Battery 4.2 - updated to 4.3 a few days ago)
I'll test with another new/empty project next.

Yep, the same (as described above) happens with a fresh/empty project with just Battery in it and one sample loaded. I hope this gives the devs a clue about the problem.
I also wonder if EvilDragon can't confirm the problem with two other hosts it might be actually a Cubase specific issue.
