Be sure to use a good Ryzen scheduler in Windows, it does make a difference.
Exactly how much CPU does one instance of Diva use in your DAW? (in Divine mode)
What memory speed do you have btw?

Is U-He Diva un-optimised for Ryzen 7950x or un-optimised just for FL Studio?

But it does do chipset drivers on their website and Bios via motherboard manufacturers.Lbdunequest wrote: Sat Sep 09, 2023 10:59 amAMD does not issue Desktop CPU drivers...Kypresso wrote: Sat Sep 09, 2023 9:59 amAre you using the latest AMD windows drivers for win 11?Lbdunequest wrote: Fri Sep 08, 2023 6:51 pmThats the thint, this affects only the newest ryzen CPU on AM5 platform. Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

I moved the discussion here as it's got nothing to do with the topic it entered and also so to have all this information in one place, should we ever need to access it.

Theoretically by the benchmark score i should be able to run almost 3 times as much (i do with other plugins tho...)pierb wrote: Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:32 pm With my old AMD 3700X I could run something like 30 diva instances.

Exactly. So there's clearly something wrong with your setup.Lbdunequest wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2023 4:24 pm Theoretically by the benchmark score i should be able to run almost 3 times as much (i do with other plugins tho...)![]()

I dont think there is anything wrong with my setup because out of hundreds of plugins only Diva underperforms (i am able to run over 400 of uhe hive instances with unison and each 4 chords!) . Plus Uhe support said they didnt tested this on a new generation of Ryzens with AM5 platform, because they dont have it.pierb wrote: Fri Sep 15, 2023 4:40 pmExactly. I believe there is something with core spread, because i had the same issue with Repro, once i changed thread count from 4 to 8 it improved by several times. Still not as efficient as Softube Model 80 but close.

Hello,
I now also have a new AMD Ryzen 7950x3d, 16 core @about 5 Ghz (Win 10, Reason 12, 256 samples buffer) and compared it with my old i7-6800k, 6core @3.4 Ghz (Win 10, Reason 12, 256 samples buffer) regarding DIVA. I'm a bit shocked because my old computer always manages about 50 percent of the new AMD with DIVA plugins. It can't actually be that the AMD is failing so quickly. I compared this with other plugins such as: Respire or others, as well as further testing of some benchmark programs. The performance scaling between the two computers is always mathematically correct, as is also stated everywhere on the Internet. The AMD is always drastically faster and I dont have these problems with other plugins. There definitely seems to be something going on with the new AMD CPUs or the AM5 motherboard chipset and uhe DIVA that is leading to this very low performance. I will test the other uhe plugins of mine in the next few days.

I think it might be chipset and scheduler related. Definitely warrants a deeper investigation IMO.
I would be curious how Diva CLAP performs in Bitwig or Reaper, with its thread pool feature.

a second test with Repro 5 gave the same result. Only about twice as many voices with the 7950x3d as with the i7-6800k, in other words ca. a factor of 1 to 2. Similar tests with other vst plugins (ReSpire, RobPapen synths, Reason etc.) all have similar results with a factor of about 1 to 6. The 7950x3d is there always about 6 times as fast/performant as the i7-6800k, which is correct. In the 7950x3d, all 16 cores work at over 5 GHz, as is correct in both cases. Since all my other plugins behave correctly, it actually seems to be due to DIVA and Repro.

A test with Diva in Reaper and the CLAP version gives roughly the same results.EvilDragon wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 8:42 pm I think it might be chipset and scheduler related. Definitely warrants a deeper investigation IMO.

Helo fellow Ryzen 9 7950x user. As im not surprised at all, im not alone here. So i guess it is Diva and Repro that needs to be investigated.

There is definitely something fishy going on here, Urs...
I know the way Intel and AMD do multicore is different, with AMD the memory bandwidth and CPU cache play a lot higher role, so I wonder...
Also, 7950X has WAY more L1 and L2 cache than prior Ryzen CPUs (1 MB L1 vs 64 KB L1 on 5950X, as well as 8 MB L2 vs 512 KB L2 on 5950X), so this leads me to assume if this perhaps results in lack of performance. Could this hugely increased L1/L2 cache have been underutilized by Diva/Repro, I dunno... I'm just spitballing. It's about the only thing that fits in this puzzle at first glance.
