Push3 has a USB-C connection, theoretically you could use the interface to connect a monitor. This means that features that are actually missing, e.g. the arrangement view, could be used. I could certainly imagine an app for that, which then runs on a tablet/phone that you connect to Push3. let's wait and seenoiseresearch wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 12:14 pm Ableton Live user since V7, love the DAW and I was happy with Push and I'm even happier with Push 2. Great to see the direction Ableton seems to go judging Push 3 release. That said I have zero interest in buying Push 3 as far as I can oversee the concept right now. It's still away from what I imagine a standalone Live hardware. Maybe Push 4 or 5 (or whatever the name will be) will be bought. Something with HDMI for a display too. Well in a couple of years the technology will be affordable enough to have a high end "laptop" in a Push like device.
PS: please Ableton never implement touchscreen

It only mentions USB 2.0 support and even if it supports 3.0, Alt mode is required for a Type C portfugazi81 wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 1:47 pmPush3 has a USB-C connection, theoretically you could use the interface to connect a monitor.
to be able to support DisplayPort. The odds aren't good for video out.

Ah ok, I did not know that and on top I don't think you can run external storage at all, but let's speculate that the Intel NUC used is somehow like that Intel® NUC 11 Performance Kit – NUC11PAHi3agharta wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 2:00 pmIt only mentions USB 2.0 support and even if it supports 3.0, Alt mode is required for a Type C portfugazi81 wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 1:47 pmPush3 has a USB-C connection, theoretically you could use the interface to connect a monitor.

It is definitely mentioned that USB-C DP1.4 would be possible. But ultimately, Ableton didn't mention this anyway, so it doesn't matter much for today's Push3 specs so it's entirely up to Ableton which sections of the motherboard specs they use in future updates.

Yes. Every Android device on the planet is ARM on Linux.

The price is very high indeed, but the travel pad should be fine, the linnstrument is quite usable and got smaller pad for sure.wvshpr wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 8:18 am Way, way too expensive compared to 2. What's the upgrade besides an audio interface most people won't use and MPE which is going to be hard to use with so little travel on those pads?
Thanks for the laugh Ableton!
Afaik the push 2 is a better device than Maschine+, and the integration of Maschine is such a pain overall that I sold mine (despite liking to be able to be standalone), so the push 3 sounds like it doesn't have those problems at day 0.ericj23 wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 9:05 amI do agree, but my note of caution is that they said similar things about a standalone maschine, and it didn't really fly off the shelves AFAIKwhyterabbyt wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 8:34 am A self-contained box with audio interface and CV outs, that can load and run your Live projects..?
Even at that price, they'll sell a fair few of those, I reckon.
PS stimming reviews
The price tho... Erf.

Given the computer board is an 'add later' option there is nothing to say they wont do an ARM version at some point, that the beauty of the design, seems like they can just add different internal specs as better options become available?whyterabbyt wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 2:37 pmYes. Must be some technical or cost reason whey they went the way they did on CPU, it seems like a very well thought out product to me.

Well this does indeed look interesting. Hope Push 2 gets some love too. I would love to have that clip view implemented in Push 2 as well. You can sort of do it in a hacky way but it's such a pain.

It's another 999 Euros for the upgrade pack, which will be available at the ende of the year.rod_zero wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 1:31 pm Wonder how much would it be possible to upgrade down the road, the simple fact it can be done is mind blowing, even if should be more common with today's technology on similar HW.
If this thing grows to be a success, there is likely going to a whole load of accessiories and third-party add-ons like an active cooler, I would guess.

I imagine so, but otoh, development may be easier for them if they stick to a consistent platform. We'll see...SLiC wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 2:43 pm Given the computer board is an 'add later' option there is nothing to say they wont do an ARM version at some point, that the beauty of the design, seems like they can just add different internal specs as better options become available?
Intel NUC is a well-proven product form factor, so maybe it was easier to prototype designs on an existing platform and port (ie from Windows on Intel to Linux on Intel) with that as an establishe target. WINE would possibly be a very handy intermediate step as well.Must be some technical or cost reason whey they went the way they did on CPU, it seems like a very well thought out product to me.

I completely missed that this has ADAT. Expert Sleepers are going to be happy...

Linux has had Arm support since 2002, and Arm64 (AArch64) support since 2012. Raspberry Pi is Arm. Every Android phone is an Arm device running a Linux kernel. Prior to Microsoft and Apple porting their OSs to Arm, Linux was pretty much the only thing running on Arm. (The original Arm OS was RISC OS, but it's a tiny fraction. I believe there are also some realtime OSs that run on Arm.)
