Much simpler to set up and handle when it's a single clip... Just hit the L button in the clip header, adjust the length of the clip to cover the desired area, and then adjust the length of the loop segments to be appropriate by dragging one of the white lines that mark the loop points.
Wait, whaaaat? Do you know how much time this would have saved me over the years if I knew this? So simple. Thankyou!

I also learnt, while trying to figure this question, that alt/ctrl/shift plus left mouse click and drag sets a loop region.

Alt/ctrl/left mouse button click and drag draws an instant zoom region.

On topic, I did a bit of playing to see if there is any way of copying an entire region regardless of clip placement and the closest I can get is this. Place your cursor where you want to paste. Left click/hold and drag left(keep the cursor in the same track)to the first clip of the ones that you want to copy. (you will have drawn a highlighted region) Now hit D. The start of the first clip will paste at the end of the highlighted area. This only works one time, then you have to redraw the region.
The problem seems to be that Waveform will acknowledge the spacing you draw at the end of the highlighted region, but ignores any spacing you draw before the first clip.

You can also left click/drag to highlight the full region of clips, with spacing at the start and end, and then hit ctrl/W to consolidate that region you've just highlighted. Then you can duplicate that clip as many times as you need. If you want to re-edit the placement of some of the hits later in the track you can just right click that clip and remove silence, getting your individual hits back again.
