my experience is making me wish i'd never heard of InMusic. so much wrong with the latest screw job, but highlights include having to update to what sure looks like a beta version 3.5 because the old L/M appears to have been killed off, no option to reinstall, disabling all authorized content and tossing around yellow triangles like so much confetti, forcing an authorization cycle every chance it gets and apparently now requires an active internet connection period. found an "offline option", but have yet to figure out what it means. looked promising on the initial d/l, but ya , you might consider holding off, but tbh not much hope for long term viability with any previous configuration. could be a combo of launch bugs/user error ofc, but there is a track record to consider...
Is the core library the same for BFD3.5 and BFD3.4.5.28?

I had good luck working with it making a drum track for a friend of mine. I worked on that track here and there for a few weeks and never had any issues.
I'll just wait for a while and see if it gets ironed out.

After the final version was released, I decided to update. And this problem really happens. I've already sent a ticket to support about it... It's really annoying.pchase wrote: Sun Feb 23, 2025 10:36 am Wow this doesn't look promising... installed the 3.5 plugin and every single time you insert an instance into a track in the DAW, it will first say "Checking registrations..." and is unusable for ~20 seconds...

I just re-downloaded the 3.5 content - installed it to a different location and then did a complete binary compare against the 3.4 content using WinMerge - unfortunately the news is all bad, there are massive differences ( mainly in the xml metadata, but also new content ) - so looks like you really are best to re-download it alldlandis wrote: Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:57 pm The title says it all; I just would like to avoid a download if I could. With the update, the inMusic Software Center offers a download of the core library as well as the BFD3.5 update. My sense of it says that they are probably indeed the same and the download would be redundant to what I already have.
Does anyone here happen to know for sure? Thanks in advance!

The BFD 3.5 is a mess. I wonder how the developers/marketing people are willing to ruin their own work by launching a product /installer with such a poor preparation and marketing communication.

Thanks for this. It sure is a very good price for what seems a great package, 51 kits and a load of FX.
I really wish they had a demo version !

I was able to roll back, and it was just as much a time-consuming PITA to uninstall.sonidomolino wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 11:07 pm ...but ya , you might consider holding off, but tbh not much hope for long term viability with any previous configuration. could be a combo of launch bugs/user error ofc, but there is a track record to consider...
Not only is there the annoying long wait to authorize with every instance, the GUI was way too big in two different DAWs (fine in standalone). They boast a "Revamped GUI – Introducing new icons, new colors, and clearer fonts", but it's not resizable? There might be something I can do in my DAW(s) to adjust it, but I'm out of patience. It's been 5 years now, and all the development seems to be going into new licensing systems and the BFD Player line.
I'm out until I see a plurality of positive comments about an update.

I don't want to be viewed as anti-BFD, a little more loyal hard critic. But this "51 kits" is really strong marketing, with the added advantage of not strictly being deceptive, if we acknowledge that here are two distinct meanings of the word "kit".
1)
2)
Note, the former are combinations of the latter. Now, these are substantial kits in the sense I would base a buy decision on, but this [actually there're 53] larger number amounts to a lot of things organized by genre tags and so forth. and when you're using 7 actual drumsets, a LOT of these are indistinguishable from one another. This is where marketing gets a bad name. This is bullshit.

Eventually many bugs will get fixed (v. 3.4.5.28 was close to perfect and I never heard of anyone else having my issue). 60 bucks is a fantastic deal.paramita123 wrote: Sat Mar 08, 2025 2:55 pm It sure is a very good price for what seems a great package, 51 kits and a load of FX.
Right now I know of one bug that would def. affect me, and I can probably work around it and/or choose a [snare] that it affects less. I tend to doubt this one is going to get a lot of attention. When I replicated it it took me a moment to get the problem.

This was actually what made me most unhappy with the update.
I really hope they fix this. Previously, it checked authorization every 80 days. At worst, go back to how it was.
But honestly, there are better ways to do this checking.
The waiting time really impacts the workflow.

51 kits or 51 presets based on 7 kits is indeed a HUGE difference !!
It still promises to be a good buy as I cannot think of any other plugin with such good value for money for realistic drums.
Regarding the loading time issue I STRONGLY suggest that buyers submit a ticket, if enough of us let them know, they may push for things to be improved :
