What issue do you have?
I don't know if their issue is the same as mine, but whenever I drag a MIDI clip out of Playbeat, I get doubled notes. Every note has a tiny extra note at the end (example attached).

4 Seems to have fixed that.

It still doesn't handle tracks with different speeds

This is the problem I'm running into, the midi is just trigger the sequence and not all the midi events. This aligns with what Audiomodern told me though.

Edit: I realized you have to set it in the Pitch tab. However, I'm having to set each Step's pitch manually.
As far as I can tell, you have to set each track manually to the pitch you want. I then saved that in Bitwig as the default preset. I don't know why that isn't default.

I set Track 8 to C1, track 7 to C#1, etc.

Edit: I realized you have to set it in the Pitch tab. However, I'm having to set each Step's pitch manually which is tedious. I don't see a way to set the tracks pitch sequentially. Clicking random on the pitch tab does nothing. Custom range does nothing. Either I'm doing something wrong or there's some bugs that need to be worked out. Locking the MIDI outputs in the settings is useless cause it resets when you change presets.
So I got the export to work by setting each steps pitch accordingly. Made all kick C1, all snares C#1, etc. Then I tested by dragging the MIDI to a TRIAZ track. But there's absolutely no way I'm going to do that every time I want to export MIDI. :bang:

Exactly. But that's a huge workflow killer. It won't retain across presets. I'm currently on the trial and have to pass on this unless that's fixed.

Is there a way to set a default preset in Playbeat?

I do that in Bitwig, so now anytime I add Playbeat, it has the pitches set how I want. Because it's so easy to do in Bitwig, I didn't look to see if it can be done in Playbeat.

Maybe but that's really only useful if you're starting Playbeat 4 from a blank state. That won't help my use case. The reason I'm interested is because I want to use their built in presets, patterns, remix them, use the smart mode, etc. Then use the MIDI in TRIAZ, AD2, and other drum software. If I have to change each step's pitch manually every time then no deal. I should be able to set and lock the first track to C1 no matter what. You can lock the MIDI note outputs in the options but it doesn't "lock" lol. It changes when you switch presets. So yeah, I can't buy this in it's current state.

There is an option "Lock Midi Outputs" which I would have assumed did just that when changing presets, but it doesn't.

It's even worse. Hitting the random button randomizes the pitches so they no longer are playing the pitches I set. I haven't found a way to lock the pitches so the randomize doesn't affect them.

Ahh, well... Not useful for me either as is. I'm not gonna spend any more time on it.

Really bad dev. Crashing dragging and dropping samples from FL 24 on win 11 into GUI. Reported this bug 3 years ago and they didn’t fix this in V4. It can remain in the shelf.

Post

i've done two 30 euro Playbeat upgrades already, for what i don't know.
harder to read fonts...

Is it impossible to simply find out what is new in V4? I watched the entire overview video and did not see many new features. I went to the website and there is no new feature list. Same goes for the manual.

All I can see is:
- new UI that looks like xo/triaz
- genre-based randomization
- scale-oriented pitch randomization (the only new feature that tempts me to upgrade at all)

I can confirm that they fixed Lock Midi Outputs in 4.0.2 and exporting MIDI works fine. However, I can't get MIDI output routing to another VST to work. I'm pretty sure it's because I'm on the trial though.

Post

The note at the beginning of the demo says that midi output is disable, among other things. Makes it hard to tell if something is a bug or not. I like full featured demos.
2020 iMac 27" 10 Core, OS 15.3, MOTU M2, iConnectMidi4+, Novation SL MKIII, Push 2, Ableton Live, VCV Rack Pro 2, Bitwig Studio

It looks like there's still no categorisation when browsing and selecting samples, can anyone confirm? If so, I'll pass on V4 because it makes using the thing an absolute workflow killer.

Thanks for the notice about the update. On Windows, it installs one of those Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables that require a restart.
