Playbeat 4 has a new upgrade available - I'm tempted as I own the previous version and like it, wondered what people's thoughts are - here's a vid
I'm putting this under instruments although it also drives MIDI from other VST if you want

I wonder if it addresses the issue with Playbeat 3 where dragging and dropping a MIDI pattern has weird splits at the beginning of the notes.

Hang on, I thought we were all boycotting this developer because of the issue with the...whatever the last thing they released and it was...something bad and maybe didn't support MPE properly and...f**k I don't know anymore. But we were all against them recently and speaking for myself, I'm not backing down unless I remember what the issue was and it turns out to be really stupid.

Still no real midi drag and drop from the internal sequencer. You aren't able to drag the midi pattern to your DAW like you can with EZ Drummer, UJAM stuff and most other drum plugins. You are able to trigger the sequencer lanes from the keyboard with midi now but that's the same as actual midi drag and drop. On the Audiomodern forums several of us asked for that feature and they were supposed to implement it but settled on this other approach which isn't the same. This is what Audiomodern replied to me when I asked about midi drag and drop for PB 4:
"This version introduces new triggering modes, eliminating the need to drag MIDI into your DAW. You can trigger patterns, individual sequencers, or remixes with a single key on your keyboard (or MIDI input) Just one MIDI note is all it takes to trigger any part you want for your project."
So basically no, they didn't add midi drag and drop to PB 4 which is a bummer. But all that said I still bought the upgrade.

Thanks for that info! That is a shame. I like to take patterns generated from things like Playbeat or Drumcomputer and use Bitwig operators to create more ornaments and variations on them.

Playbeat 3 has midi drag-n-drop. So they removed it?seangm wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:20 pm Still no real midi drag and drop from the internal sequencer. You aren't able to drag the midi pattern to your DAW like you can with EZ Drummer, UJAM stuff and most other drum plugins.

Is routing midi out to another Drum VST possible? If there's no way to get midi from Playbeat 4, then it's definitely a hard pass from me.seangm wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:20 pm Still no real midi drag and drop from the internal sequencer. I just upgraded from Playbeat V3 to V4, made a pattern, and dragged the midi to my DAW. You can drag individual tracks or all tracks as one midi clip. (Same as V3)seangm wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:20 pm Still no real midi drag and drop from the internal sequencer.

Playbeat can send out midi... to Drum PluginJiggSaw wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:01 pm Is routing midi out to another Drum VST possible? If there's no way to get midi from Playbeat 4, then it's definitely a hard pass from me.
Playbeat can send each track to separate midi channels.
