Worst sounding vst - Black Rooster RO-140. I could never ever get a workable sound with this plate verb.
Plugin Alliance pickups I never use - Silver Bullet, Tantra, Opticom, Cenozoix, XTComp.
All the API strips I've picked up. The sound and dynamics is not my thing no matter how many times I've tried.

I find myself in the same place but with Neve ('73) preamps (and emulations). I don't get why everybody loves them. To my ear, they sound dull, even congested.heyheycnv wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 1:44 pm Worst sounding vst - Black Rooster RO-140. I could never ever get a workable sound with this plate verb.

Vochlea Dubler 2 - It's been more useful on the whole for me to just learn to transcribe into the piano roll by hand.
FL Studio - Not because it's a bad product, but because its workflow just doesn't gel with me compared to Ableton or Cubase. I bought Producer Edition like three years ago and am stuck with this license I can't do much with since Image-Line products aren't transferable.

Synthogy Ivory.
It was C/R when bought, then when it went 64-bit they changed it to iLok, which at that time was really flaky. They did this based on customer requests they said. Odd, I never got that survey.
I wanted to sell it, or even give it away to a music student for free, given that they'd effectively changed an important aspect of the plug-in which would have forced me to use iLok, even though I was purposely sticking to serials and C/R at the time. They wouldn't let me, ended up with a box of useless DVDs, so eff Synthogy.
Never bought anything from them again.

Soon to be all things NI, PA, or iZotope.
Seriously though: vocal synth 2. Would of been better off with the $15-$30 or whatever it cost.

The code red website says VST3 is supported. But yeah, no apple silicon...jamcat wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 8:32 pm Shattered Glass Audio. Code Red has still not been updated for VST3 or Apple Silicon. All my other plugins were updated 5 years ago. Support emails aren’t answered, and when you ask when an update is coming, the SGA guy cries that he’s being harassed.
It’s the most shameful, unprofessional operation since Crysonic.

I love how Acustica Audio is so frequently hated.
Their stuff IME sounds good but is a huge CPU hog and feels shoddy.

And the installer craps random files all over your hard drive. It's like they never learned the concept of a 'folder'.ampetrosillo wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 7:42 pm I love how Acustica Audio is so frequently hated.

No better, huh? I freaking LOVE the melodies that I've gotten out of Scaler 2. Like nothing I've ever sequenced or put through quantizers has even come close, but it's such a pain to setup I hardly ever use it (in Ableton at least, sounds like other daws have less problems).

You are correct. But either way, you can't use VST3 without Apple Silicon support, anyways. It's still for sale, so he'll gladly take your money for it. He just won't support it in anyway when it doesn't work.synworks wrote: Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:14 pmThe code red website says VST3 is supported.
