It doesn't have to be utterly bad (but it can be). It could be something that you thought you needed but ended up never using, maybe because of implementation problems (bad UI/UX, heavy CPU use, etc.). Not something that was part of a bundle though.
In my experience, it must be anything paid by Melda. Their free plugins can be useful, but the first to come to mind, MAutoalign, is next to useless.

Vengance "Avenger" VSTi, because they changed the copy protection scheme afterwards in a way that only hobbiest can adore.

The ones that gets buried in my endless plugin list, never to be found again after that first week of enjoyment.

Waves plugins. I have nothing against waves, but their subscription only move was a kick in the nuts.
Sure, they came crawling back, but I don't trust them anymore.

Needs to reactivate authorisation every three months or so, before it was the Steinberg dongle. I use a lot of plug ins and my studio is not open to the internet for safety reasons (e.g. client data). And the re-activation kicked in when I wanted to use my own programmed sounds with Avenger, disturbing my whole creative process. That is utterly destructive, because I make a living from my creativity since decades.
They clearly even stated it was tailored after game industry copy protections - that is for hobbyists.
(Nothing wrong with hobbyists of course)

All of those amp sims I thought I might use but never really did.

WA Productions ChopBeast - I think I expected too much, like a drum loop rearranger (think Recycle). I love me some WA Productions pluggys but this does everything I can already do with FL. It rearranges nothing. It just chops. They have a new version out, so maybe it's better.

Never had a problem with MAutoalign. Works well on acoustic drums and bass amp/DI.ampetrosillo wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 7:23 pm It doesn't have to be utterly bad (but it can be). Boz Manic Delay. It’s just a bad delay. Can’t get a nice long delay going, it loses volume too fast or goes to crap in feedback.
I’ve the same gripe with vengeance going from dongle to this horrible every 3 months reactivation. I’ve send multiple (angry) emails to them/Keilwerth that it’s a big disservice to their users to go from owning plugins to “borrowing” them. My daw is offline most time. I’d rather they use ilok. I own multiple plugins and i will never buy anything vengeance again. Just horrible.dreamvoid wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 7:56 pm Needs to reactivate authorisation every three months or so, before it was the Steinberg dongle. all Softube plugins were disappointing to me, couldn't find any use, always had better options, especially their guitar plugins are horrible, and I still don't know why I bought Tone2 synths, luckily could re-sell.

Almost everything I've ever owned from AIR has been a disastrous crashfest on every DAW I've ever owned, Mac and PC.
And, don't even get me started on the sh*tshow called BFD3.
