actually, I just don't come by here all that much. I've been recording a lot lately! I have tried all your suggestions. Cubase is so cluttered and annoying I put some more time into trying to mend Tracktion.
today I: trashed all preferences assciated with Tracktion and removed my VST folder. I installed a big system update and now everything seems to be working.
THE CLICKS AND POPS ARE GONE I THINK IT WAS A BAD PREFERENCE FILE.
I have not come here to vent, I came looking for help to get rid of the clicks and pops. Thanks for the help and try to be a little more understand of how upsetting it is when you have put a lot of time and energy into working with a program and then it bottoms out!

I love Tracktion and look foward to making the move back. Working with Cubase again for a while made me realize how much I like Tracktion... although Cubase does have a killer sound. I think there is a Cubase sound maybe... I hope Tracktion gets some better native nuts and bolts plugins.
My system was at fault... tracktion was at fault. I don't know. A Tracktion preference file... or maybe even the new mac os update sorted it. Sorry for moaning so.
