>>I use QLSO Platinum ! much more heavy on the CPU as it is 24 bits

> More heavy on memory possibly, but not on the CPU; the Kontatk engine processes at 32bit AFAIK, so exactly the same processing will be going on whatever the bit-depth of the samples.

If you have bigger samples you need either more memory to load them or more disk access to read them :)

If I do not put the QLSO samples on a Raid 0 that reads at 350 MB/S I cannot play the song
Why my cpu meters are almost in the red ! and I needs 1 MB more memory with DFD set to 48/96 (DFD set to 96/128 not enought memory to load the samples) My G5 has 3.5 GB of memory

The same song with VSL only use a few segments of the CPU !

The same song with Jam Pack 4 and many more instruments loaded only use a few segments of the CPU

> Have you tried the full version of Kontakt instead of the supplied player, btw? I got the impression the DFD playback was more mature in Kontakt...

I use the full version of Kontakt ! I have 5 instance of Kontakt with an average of 15 slot loaded

> Is that something you've actually tried on a PC?

No I did not, I will never buy a PC
It is said in the documentation of QLSO that you need up to 8 PC to run a full orchestra !!!!!

If you want to try this song I can send you the midi file ; send me a mail at blanc.cyril@wanadoo.fr.
Somebody has already try this song with Synthfull on a PC ; no way !

MAC OS X 10.3 is limited to 2 MB per process, just have to wait 3 more month to have 10.4 (Tiger), full 64 bit and no memory limit on process !!
I will be able to load 7.5 GB of samples ! ! ! :) :) :) :)
