As soon as I went over to the new setup (AMD 2.5, WinXP and SX 2.2.033 and same soundcard ....Blockfish crashes my system every time.
I have this exact same problem!!!! I thought it was just me..

I used to use the blockfish a lot.. now it just crashes the host.. sucks..

I didn't know it was still for sale - Ultrafunk ceased trading and they eventually sold their Sonitus plugin range to Cakewalk, where it appears in their Sonar product. (As far as I know - I use Cubase SX myself). I bought the Sonitus pack on their very last day of trading - and I am so glad I didn't miss out.

I'll be damned if that doesn't sound like a very frightening masturbation euphemism :-o
it does! :hihi:
It doesn't help my case but that line comes from one of the funniest movies by Mel Brooks called Blazing Saddles. I highly recommend everyone check it out.

i find blockfish to be too subtle for most things I want a compressor for, even at maximum compression on "complex" mode. and it seems to clip in a nasty digital way. I think i got an ok drum sound out of it though

"Complex" mode is actually like using less of two compressors. I'd imagine it'd be more nasty without it. Don't forget about that back panel as well. I still like it on bass, but have managed to replace it most of the time with the Kjaerhus comps, though the TLS 4032 is absolutely amazing on bass once you bring back the track volume.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

i loved blockfish when i first discovered it... at this point, though, i can't remember the last time i used it on a track. i generally go for my UAD-1 compressors first.

Endorphin "Loud and Punchy" is one of the best maximizers I've heard, although the stock setting will pump on some things.

I've had a bit of problems on Tracktion with Blockfish glitching in and out---at first I thought it was in demo mode or something. Not sure what was going on there.

Dominion is interesting and a bit hard to understand. I've had it do some nice thickening for me on some samples.

I thought that line sounded familiar

I have used and still use Blockfish on my master drumtrack, I have dropped Endorphin as master fx as of lately though.

Still, big up to Digital Fishphones! 8)

Post

I use blockfish on almost every song I write, often multiple instances! Thanks DF!

However, has anyone else had gui-update problems? Sometimes when I change presets, the knobs/buttons don't actually change unless I minimize the plug and then maximize it again.

Post

I've been using Blockfish for ages on almost everything I do. I think it's especially good on drums- makes everything really stand out. Couldn't live without it.

Post

floyd, yes I have this problem, usually if I select a preset (usually fat drumloop) the gui doesn't change settings but the effect is there. anyway, I judge it by ear anyway and it's free, so no big deal...

Post

Hmm, haven't noticed that... but then again I don't think I've ever loaded a preset in Blockfish, I always set it up from scratch, it's just so easy.

Post

just shows you how very lazy I am (I do tweak it from there...)
