That has been my experience also. My standard operating procedure these days is to compose in Live and use the session view to dice/slice/rearrange till I get the core of what I want. I then "cntrl J" everything and move it over to Cubase for final fxs and mixing. I find Live's arrangement view doesn't give me a comfortable work flow.

The moving over is a pita but for some reason (no pun intended) I can't get comfortable with rewire-ing.

Pretty surprising that P5 V2 won't record live audio after all, but since I'm interested in it purely as a VST host (as I suspect a lot of others are), it's not a big deal for me.
another point of clarification
my understanding is
P5 v2 will record live audio. And will record live audio when the 'Groove Matrix' is running.
BUT to incorporate a groove clip of that live recording into the 'groove Matrix', the 'groove Matrix' must be stopped as the recording isn't in a 'graspable' state till things stop.

Brandon Ryan of Cakewalk
I just wanted to drop in to clarify something that comes off as erroneous in the demo video. While it is possible to edit audio and drag chunks over to the groove matrix while running, it is not possible to do this after record without stopping as the chunks do not appear until then. My apologies for getting everyone lathered up about this. At any rate, all the rest of the stuff appears to be accurate as I've listened back through it.
hope that helps

I love the macro synth option. Just call up a preset and the synth/FX loads and is mapped to the controller while P5v2 is running. Splits and stacking of synths can be done. Magnificant! :o 8)

My god, i REALLY want P5 v2 now :o

I must say, its a very, very good demo by the Cakewalk rep. He was well prepared (unlike alot of product demos I've seen), and presented the info in a concise manner.

P5 v2 does look very promising! Look forward to demoing it.

That does look good actually.

The arpeggiator sounds like the way z3ta does things, except without all the mucking about transferring a midi file to it's own propriatory format. which is pretty bloody sweet.

Eric,

To answer your question, Project5 Version 2 does have plugin delay compensation (pdc).

Holy cow!!! I need to know how you guys were able to hvae PDC and still have a gapless audio engine? How can all the tracks compensate if you add for example a convolution verb with 4096 samples of delay in the chain of one of the tracks?

Congratulations, but I'm just a bit skeptical on how you out-germaned the Germans on this one. Nice job, fellas.

Podium has a gapless audio engine and PDC as well but lacks all the creative tools like the groove matrix, and the rather tidy instrument an fx collection that P5 has!
P5 v2 has indeed arrived. 8)
