I agree. This is exactly the sort of attitude that has spoilt what was once a helpful and enthusiastic community.

Platinumears - I have no doubt that you want Tracktion to succeed in winning new converts, and for Jules to do well in the process. How the hell do you think that is likely when you insult newcomers by calling them names and chucking about offensive and puerile insults?

Anyone posting in this thread (apart from me of course) is by definition already a user, but too stingy to pay for a copy. I don't think Mackie will miss their custom too badly! :hihi:

Would you pay for something you already had?
Looks like you're willin to pay 80$ for T1 now aren't you?

What a foolish request. Why would mackie bother selling it at 150$ at all if they wanted to charge everyone on earth 100$?

Just go buy it in the store with all the shiny free plugins and be happy it's way less than any other sequencer out there with the capabilities it has.

I wouldn't doubt it mackie put up a 100$ download only version with no plugins though.
Ok the deal was this.
T1 had several bugs that somehow did not amuse much. I use it for audio work but little more.
As I downloaded the T2 demo I found the bugs gone, but the T1 buying option was gone. Mackie told us to wait until may for the T2 release and that is what I did.
As soon as the release was done I find you can only buy the boxed version which happens to be available only in the USA so far.
Also buying the Boxed version would be much more expensive depending on where you lived due to shipping and handling. So having to pay x amount more just to have a nice bundled application that will never get used seems like a waist to some. Again, download or not download. I will buy T2 as soon as I can find a near dealer if no download option is available, but as it seems that many more users who got their T1 in a bundle are willing to pay x amount of money for a T2 upgrade (almost full price if I might add) without the extra plugs it seemed like a good idea to make this thread and see how many are really willing to go that route and if Mackie is willing to allow it. It was never meant as a battle ground.
Those who got their T1 from the begining; be happy that you supported agreat developer and a nice application, but do not piss on other´s desire to buy the same application at the same amount of money as you did only some months later.
The main point here is the lack of a download option. The boxed only option seems to be a lot off hassle for non-american users. That is all.

:D

I wasn't being insulting..

So you claim, whilst throwng around insults.

you'll know when I am!

Aintchoo hard, then.

Mackie encouraged people to buy full T1 licenses by hinting strongly that it would be worth your while. As it turns out them have far exceeded any expectations.. but that just makes you lot into bigger fuckwits for not believing them.

Who said people didnt believe them? And why are you persisting in this retarded assumption that there is a single 'lot' of people here, which encompasses all NFR users who all have the same views and opinions.
Sorry if it spoils your worldview, bit there isnt. Apart from the fact that Mackie misled me into thinking I got a discount, my only interest is that I'd prefer a cheaper downloadable version which doesnt come with plugins I dont need. Im not expecting any discount because I own the NFR, nor am I bothered if one is made available. I dont want to have to pay for plugins I already own, though, and if that's all that is available to me, then I wont be doing that.

You just seem to be being a nasty little toerag, merely because people got something for free.

WTF do you think NFR means?

It means 'Not For Resale', thats what. I own more than one NFR license for software, and it has nothing to do with that software being a demo.

Say it was printed on a white label.. it means its a promotional copy, ie: a demo.

No it doesnt. A demo copy is not the same as a promotional copy which is not the same as an NFR copy. Learn the difference please.

:nutter:

Says the guy who cant tell the difference between something not being resalable, which is a license issue, something being a promotional copy, which is primarily a distribution issue, and something being a demo, which usually is a functionality issue.

Uh? How do you know that?

I have PAID for multiple licenses, and am entitled to the $20 upgrade on all of them  .

<...I'm not actually convinced at present that T2 (without the plugs) is worth the $20 upgrade because there are so many issues with it. I'll probably wait and pay my $20 once the software actually works a bit better...>

The issue about buying as an online download is a seperate one though. I personally think that for those who DO want to buy T2 (whether they had the NFR copy or not, to be honest) should really be able to do so as a download minus the plugs. And $100 seems like a fair price for that, surely?

What a bunch of twats...congratulations on being in the $80 Club, girls. I'm going to find some adults to talk to.

Good luck to them in a competitive retail marketplace with all those boxing, advertising and shipping costs for a physical product. Good luck going against Steinberg et al..
..yeah, in Germany you have to pay 160€ for T2 + shippingcost of 5 Euro, that´s around 214$ , including all that mentioned stuff you don´t need...

...for the same money i also get the new Edirol PCR-M30 Keyboard (which i´m planning to buy) bundled with Sonar 4 SE which features are comparable to T2...so even i prefer T2 it´s hard to decline this offer...

Not just hassle. 'todd sweetland' might do well to remember that in the UK prices are often set at $1=£1. If a $120 price is set, that'll almost undoubtedly mean it'll cost at least £100 to buy in a UK store, which is nearly $190. So now its not just a $20 difference we're talking about. Its nearly double the actual cost.

Thats not for you to decide.

I'm a paid user from the early days too.. and i have to agree that, your continuing contributions to the tracktion community notwithstanding, you're coming across like a spoiled child right now.

Whats wrong with letting the NFR users propose an upgrade deal? what does it matter to you?
