VST most like Serge or Buchla?

So which is it the eXpando or the CutOats, or maybe the Joker?

These were created initially for my own use and amusement and I make no claim that they actually sound like the hardware synths there are emulations of / based on, for none of them use custom-coded oscillators or filters.

UI is the worst part of Blocks, they are way too big and I'd much prefer a more compact BEAP style UI. But anyway, if you gloss over the fact that Reaktor and Softube are VST plugins working in all DAWs, and that BEAPs are completely unknown to most people, consider this:

Max/MSP costs twice as much as Reaktor, and the nerdy types who want Puckette kind of visual programming can already use Pd for free. M4Live is a separate, limited product... I just see this as a rather problematic market position. There's a bigger investment in choosing such a platform than just money, very few people can fully dive into many visual programming environments.

Softube Modular replicates actual eurocrack hardware and patching, which I guess makes it interesting to some and sets it apart from these.

honestly, i've never tried them, but i doubt they sound anywhere near as good as Reaktor or Softube. i know i've read comments on this in the past from people who have used them.

I have fond memories of a Serge modular I used as an undergrad, and a Buchla 400 as a grad student. Any suggestions on VSTs most similar in spirit to these hardware synths? My votes would be:

Snip (Nice free semi-modular "experimental sound generator" with a 70s Serge/Buchla vibe)

No longer available for purchase, but VAZ Modular has a multi-wave Buchla-esque oscillator and a number of Serge function-block-like modulation sources. Unfortunately Martin Fay (VAZ dev) never released the Lowpass Gate module he had been working on.
