I would definitely be interested. I'm just now starting to look for choir samples-and I'm blown away by how much they cost.Bela D Media wrote:I don't want to talk price but this AKAI version would be under $250.00 BIG TIME~

No. Too expensive, not in consideration to what you've done but in considering the alternatives such as gpo or a synth and how much they would actually be used. Howcome Voxed by Wusikstation is so cheap then...hmm.

??? Is that a serious question?Snowbeamdesert wrote:No. Too expensive, not in consideration to what you've done but in considering the alternatives such as gpo or a synth and how much they would actually be used. Howcome Voxed by Wusikstation is so cheap then...hmm.

a) Wusik products are absurdly cheap;
b) Even though Wusikstation is a great product, it's sampling capacity doesn't compare to the 'real' samplers (e.g. multiple voicings)...
c) Sampling real humans and instruments is so much more labour-intensive than sampling synths...

Nightbreed is a Clive Barker movie based on his story Cabal. Danny Elfman did the soundtrack with some really nice voice work. Much like his work done for the Edward Scissorhands soundtrack, but the nightbreed work is a bit more intense. It even has David Cronenberg as the doctor.Bela D Media wrote:Not OT. What is NightBreed? A score?

I see. Thank you. Think along the lines of the movie Glory. That is what we have.M'Snah........(aka HansM) wrote:VOX'd: http://www.wusik.com/index.php?pagep=vo ... &menu=voxd, the sample set is created by bitr (http://www.backintimerecords.de/bitr001.htm)

Wonderful idea. I think many people would be happy with this, including myself, but as I first have to win a bit of money (on a budget) I only can say "maybe".
For example it is sometimes possible or was in the past to reduce prices a bit if 100 or more people share a group- buy.
Being able to load wavs into any sampler is great too, as many, including me, don't have Kontakt2, Giga or Halion3. (But Reaktor4 loads akai5000, I think).

One thing I wanted to point out. The reason why would wont not consider a simple audio version is because samples of this nature need programming to support them. As with any major sample library, it is also the sampler that is making at all come together. It's not like a drum loop or single hits. Much care and attention must go into attack times, legato control and so on.
Just some more insight.

Having listened to the demos (thanks for the link, Hans), these are very different to the kid's choir Francis has. The Wusik ones are much more along the lines of a typical 'ROMpler' like Roland XV or Korg Triton or whatever - very 'synthetic'. Wouldn't surprise me either if the number of multi-samples are limited (one per octave or whatever). That's not to criticise them - they sound very good and very impressive (there's some enviable programming in there) but....Snowbeamdesert wrote:How come Voxed by Wusikstation is so cheap then...hmm.
Francis's 'Giovanni' chorii are the real deal - young choristers 'aaah-ing' or 'oooo-ing' chromatically over their natural vocal range. As such, a sample for every note (C, C#, D, D#, etc.) sustained for around 5-6 seconds each in stereo with true, natural acoustic ambience embracing this pure and innocent sound. Very different.
In fairness, it's a bit like comparing the strings from a ROMpler module with those from the Garritan String Orchestra.
