Hi everyone,

I have recently been involved in sample editing work on a truly fabulous library of children's choir samples being created by BelaDMedia - The Giovani Edition.

The sounds are just absolutely gorgeous... heavenly and angelic, pure and innocent, breathy and beautiful. There are various different sizes of choral ensemble... chamber (4 singers) and ensemble (16 singers) - and there are not just boys versions but girls as well.

All the samples have been recorded in stereo in a stunning acoustic environment (an historic church) using the very best recording technology and engineers available.

Aware of the fact that a fixed reverberant acoustic can limit a sample's application, BelaD has recorded close and far mic'd versions. Furthermore, proprietary techniques developed here at Hollow Sun means that the reverb length can be controlled using the sampler's amplitude decay control.

I think that there would a lot of interest in having such beautiful samples in your Akai libraries - you're not gonna find anything like this available elsewhere - and there is talk amongst us to release an Akai version. It would be available in S5/6000 format but, of course, would be 100% compatible with Z-series and MPC4000. It would also be compatible with the growing number of s/w samplers that now support import of the S5/6000 format.

Believe me - these are truly inspiring sounds and textures that could find a place in many different styles of music but....

Before I start the work (which would be quite substantial), I am trying to gauge the level of interest there might be in such a product for the Akai community.

Hollow Sun would not be selling this - it would be a BelaDMedia product sold by them. However, all the Akai-specific work will have been done by myself so you can be assured of utmost sound and programming quality and attention to detail for the S5/6000 and subsequent Akai samplers.

Naturally, price is an issue - nothing definite has been decided but it would be 'affordable'. This would buy you 500Mb or so of absolutely dreamy and seamlessly looped ambient kids vocals!

I am not at liberty to share the details of the full version but it is a double DVD set dedicated to these children's choir. The Akai version would be a 'lite' version of that - but equally evocative and useful.

A simple vote is all that's required.... simply reply "YES" if you would be interested in such a product, "MAYBE" if you think you might be interested or "NO" if you're definitely not. I can gauge the level of interest from that.

Please don't be apathetic as it will affect the ultimate decision to release this or not.

Thanks for your time - I hope you're interested and that you will vote positively. Even if you don't see a place for it in your library and the overwhelming response is NO, that is useful as I/we can save a lot of wasted time and money.

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Steve

I would love to see something like this! Then I could write spooky soundtrack music similar to Nightbreed. :)

Frank, this is awesome news! I didn't even connect the 'looping' guy with Hollow Sun. A very respected developer himself!

sounds good

NO, but I don't have a sampler that plays Akai - the library sounds like it would be great! It would be a YES if the library is less than $50.00 USD and if I had Kontakt 2 or VSampler or any other sampler that supports S5000/6000.

If anyone's ever seen Full Metal Alchemist, there's this one children's choir section that just plain rules! You'll probably know which one I'm talking about if you know what I'm talking about.

Yes - definitely. IF...ESC can convert them as I don't have an AKAI-specific sampler, and IF the "loops" as mentioned are simply more "one shots" than "loops" as in 4-beat kind of pre-written rhythmic patterns normally associated with the term.

Thank you! I do a LOT of stuff with choral-based writing/samples.

The full version double DVD is for Kontakt 2, GS3 and HALion. You will never find high end children's choir samples for $50.00. Never. This is not a Sound Font were are talking about. Sorry I just had to chime in. I hope your ok with this but I had to let you know that $50.00 can never buy you a children's choir. They are just so costly too record. Not too forget the church, the conductor and a team of sound designers to get it all done.

The sampled voice is very tricky and labor intensive work.... and children's voices to boot? ... oh my!

Maybe. Price is a factor and I'm unsure if Reason's NNXT can import any of the listed formats and I'm unsure how to go about converting between any of them to an NNXT supported format.

But I'm really interested. A children choir sounds pretty angelicly demented (or at least, that's how I'd use it).
