The Princeton 2016 is very good for a natural, unobtrusive sound. If you are looking for a verb that supports the sound without dominating a mix, it can be very effective.

(You don't know what exactly you bought? - no wonder you're embarassed! :hihi:)

What I bought tells me it is called Princeton Digital 2016 Stereo Room VST. That would mean that it can't be "stereo room" without being 2016, wouldn't it?

(I know the difference between the SR VST and full 2016 for ProTools - but this thread is about PC room reverbs, so I think SR VST would be enough)

i think convolution reverbs with impulses from real rooms or TC electronics units are best for early reflections. so cut the impulse length to early reflections only.. then chain that in serial with a reverb of choice for the later reverb. this works amazingly well, best software reverbs ive gotten

That's a very cool idea. Mixing and matching different types of vst reverbs and/or delays and even modulation and envelope effects certainly has vast possibilites. Take the best parts you like and put them together.

This is what I usually do too. I seem to prefere the lexicon small ambiences though (announcer, closet etc.) and then I add some tail with whatever I have at hand.

I just got it yesterday, so I haven't fully explored it yet, but so far I think (as allready mentioned) that the Arts Acoustic reverb is doing some great small rooms.
I may not be all that much of an expert, but it even sounded quite well on a complete mix. And I seem to allready love it for any percussion. It's pretty much reasonable on the good old CPU as well.
