Reverb that can do good small rooms?

I'd just like something that can simulate a kind of small room sound, and give the mix a bit of warmth and intimacy as opposed to those big lexicon sounding ones.
Any suggestions?

You might want to try the demos of the ArtsAcoustic reverb or the Princeton 2016 Room reverb. SIR or any other convolution-based reverb along with the right IRs could do the trick too.

I seriously suggest getting SIR and all those lovely Lexicon and TC Ambience and post production ambience impulses. Works very well for vocals and can give it a bit more 'in your face' stereo feeling.

The 2016 is outstanding at more intimate reverbs.the_nihilist wrote:I'd just like something that can simulate a kind of small room sound, and give the mix a bit of warmth and intimacy as opposed to those big lexicon sounding ones.

Try Silverspike RoomMachine (free) great early reflections only. Also silverspike R2 quite deep in the imaging department which is important in small spaces. Also ArtsAcoustic, best so far overall verb.

We all obviously have different ideas of what is a Small Room ... I love Glaceverb for what it is, but come on - it's hardly capable of a small room. ArtsAcoustic does small rooms well. Silverspike R2 does early reflections very well - it's almost like putting up microphones in a room and moving them around. The Princeton one does nice small rooms. I think the PSP Easyverb does nice small rooms too. But before you spend any money, try Kjaerhus Classic Reverb (free). There are so many options, it's hard to say which is best - they are all different. I tend to agree, at this point in time, ArtsAcoustic is the best all-rounder. You can go slightly mad if you collect on the free reverbs and demos and convolution impulses ... you could save a lot of time and just use ArtsAcoustic as you only reverb, it's so versatile.

SpinAudio Roomverb and Voxengo Pristine Space Light keep me happy.

For quite interesting small spaces I also recommend Rayspace. It has a completely own sound to the small spaces and diffuse fields. Try adding a lot of small 'dots' all over the place and turning the block size knob to 10cm or so.

The demos only show some rather useless sounding novelty presets, and one "theatre". I had missed the idea that Glace is useful as a general-purpose reverb, from the website.Hypertone wrote:Another vote for Glaceverb it's good for small room sounds. An impulse verb with some Lexicon impulses is a good choice also.

The trick with Glaceverb is to set all the sliders on the left to the extreme left. That defeats all the novelty wierdness. The controls on the right are more self evident - the diffusion needs to be carefully balanced - too little is boring and too much is sproingy. But it's a great sounding smooth tail that beats a lot of expensive reverbs. But at the minimum size setting, it's still a fairly big room in my opinion. Out of the freebies - try Kjaerhus Classic reverb. It can do very small spaces.

try the reverb in here;
http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/data/xhipeffects.zip
it uses a method unlike any other reverb (to my knowlage)
anyway, its possible to have a zero size room.
the small room settings sound awesome in my opinion, better
that most intensive verbs, and its free! :P

The great thing about GlaceVerb is that it's completely configurable, so if you can't get a small room from it, I'm guessing either you've not really tried it or you've just not sussed it yet.greendoor wrote:We all obviously have different ideas of what is a Small Room ...
