It's going to kind of evolve on it's own over time. Each iteration I will post for commentary. Yes I'm going for realism here, atleast as real as Amplitube SE and GR1. How's that?audiojunkie wrote:Hey Grym, I know this will probably sound really stupid or anal, but is there any chance you can really go for the realistic look on your graphics? I really love that. Kind of a multicolored, brushed metal, realistic knob, wood paneled beautiful, powerful, wonderful sounding beast.![]()

How about it? Huh?

Are there any images of amps/heads/controls that people want to share? I could use some direction in this regard. I was thumbing through a copy of Musicians Friend catalog while sitting on the throne the other day and saw one of the most gorgeous pieces of HW -- it was an Avalon compressor - brushed steel, orange warm glowing meters, beautiful elegance. Of course that's out of place in this project -- FreeAMP would need a more traditional middle-of-the-road kind of head, not some girly fancy stuff
Anyway if you have small cropped pics of controls with explanations about what you LIKE about it instead of "this is neat!" -- you must be verbose and explicit -- feel free to post them up. I'm still in the very begining stage as you can see and now is a great time to put some slips into the suggestion box.

First, thanks!audiojunkie wrote:By the way, I love what you did with your last GUI, the PhaseOsc thingie... If your GUI will look anything like that one, I'll love it!

FreeAMP is the FS flagship plug, therefore I'm giving my 150%. That means it may turn out better than PhazOsc. TBH I am not fond of the PhazOsc shape
Imagine a cassette tape where the ampenv is and another for dubbing/making mix tapes where the filterenv is in PhazOsc
I dunno WTF I was thinking. I was going for a "emulated" 3D kind of thing and was thinking "a pod as father and a UFO as mother

It works for me, just make sure you're on the delay part of the pedal when switching it off and not the verb section?P.T. wrote: I was having trouble getting the delay to turn off. I switched it off and it ignored the off switch. The light goes out but the delay remains active.
I turned the chorus on and off a few times and, oddly, the next time I tried turning the delay off it went off.
Switching between delay and reverb again gave trouble. It would not switch.

The bypass switches that are included are the ones I was talking about. Sorry for not being clear.matthewjumps wrote:hey dont disturb the creative processgrymm is gonna make something kickass im sure....
And like said - FreeAmp should be a total solution - and a flanger, reverb, delay are all integral parts of creating a specific guitar sound - i would be really bummed not to have these included.
As far as "bypass" switches - what are you talkin about audiojunkie? there already there! Dont the big step buttons on the pedals work like bypass switches?

Perhaps another plug will get an emulation of that some day.

Not yet. Did some preliminary figuring of things and tried out a new tool (XaraXtreme) to see if I could use it for some of the more tedious/intricate parts of the design in a way that is better than PS - but found there were problems so sticking with what I know. Been researching blender nightly and I think I have my head around the basics of 3D. This weekend (saturday day) I devote to freeamp - sunday I do family stuff.matthewjumps wrote:any news on the new gui grymm?
So hope to make some good progress. I am distracted constantly by things during weeknights so it's hard to work on anything serious after working all day at the PC for real job. For instance I just did the ManyTone group buy and have been in heaven - that and I stumbled onto Nolwenns synth1 banks on top of working heavily recording ideas for patches into cantabile for pentagon and demoing toxic3 and trying to get more understanding of eXT and phrazor.
So yea, tons of tempation
Sorry for the time frame, I just have too much crap going on and have a horribly addictive and impulsive personality along with a very short attention span
Please have patience. Thanks!

Yes exactly like that. Except I think it's not the right look for this FreeAMP project. It's too polished and too shiny. A nice effect suite would be better project to skin like that.

Agreed - it seems to monotone for a multi-FX suite. Interestingly, I think the guys who made AirEQ might've been inspired by this too...grymmjack wrote:[Yes exactly like that.
