She's a good girl though...Nasty but nice

Load Factory -> Fernando's Hardware Factory -> FMR Jupiter VH Jump. Stab C2 rapidly. As it cycles around the 8 Voices it always drops out at Voice 4.
The voice in that preset is triggering on my setup. WinXP Diva480 Ableton 8.2.7

Interesting. Wonder why it doesn't work for me...

If memory serves me, I am noticing a lot of voicing or triggering issues coming from ppl running the Win x64 version. Not sure what the cause would be.

Been working with the beta versions and the 1.0 demo. My system is very similar to the KVR member DDEEZ that has been reporting problems with Cubase 6 on a Windows 7 64 bit. Any progress being made on the noise and stability issues? In love with Diva but she is living up to her name currently.

I'm investigating it...

Thank you for checking on this Urs. I have instability in both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Cubase 6 (latest version) on my Windows 7 64 bit system (i7 3.4 ghz machine 16 gb ram). Plug in will sometimes cause loud noises (especially when changing patches), behave unpredictably or cause the host to become unresponsive completely. But when the Diva sings :-)

This is funny,... Days after installing Diva and running my CPU ragged with tesst-driving the synth, my laptop's 2.5Ghz Intel C2Duo Cpu ran too hot for too long and fried the integrated graphics component alongg w a few other components under the large heatsink on the mainboard :p I am assuming the accident was caaused by said events due in large part to the fact that the custom workstation has never failed me one time throough heavy projects for 4 years.

Really though, I just laugh at the irony of it all ;) All this technology...fully-loaded,faster, modelled hi-res filters, lower n lower latency, more driftable vooices, all in the name of achieving that ol analog sound with bits n bites.

Well, looks like I too will be joining the 64-bit OS i7 quad core world shortly. Wish us all luck in surviving the 'advances' of the new year.

Despite the setback I still do not regret my Purchase of D synth. It's an honest push forward. Sometimes there's a couple dinosaur sacrifices which must be made... Farewell old machine, you retire w my utmost appreciation!! Good luck to Urs through Divas growing pains, I know you'll figure it out after the holidaze mate

Holy shxt! I think I'll get a new heatsink tomorrow just in case.

Do that! It's a great world!

You might be just fine with the i5-2400. Unless you overclock or expect to use those extra cores it might not be necessary. Although it's a review for gaming PC chips, CPU performance is heavily stressed by both domains. Or get the i7 if you wanna. ;)
Intel's Sandy Bridge microarchitechture is undeniably fast. Test data suggests that the Core i5-2400 can stand toe-to-toe with Core i7-900-series processors when it comes to gaming performance. We're not talking about the entry-level models, either. This affordable processor has the chops to compete with Intel's thousand-dollar Extreme Edition chips.

As great as the Core i5-700-series chips are, the Core i5-2000 processors hit the afterburners and fly right by. Plus, the LGA 1156 interface is essentially dead, so it seems silly to sink any money into it at this point.

Thanks for the review :) Well, I'll be honest...I really don't know too much about newer CPU's other than Sandy Bridge generation of i7 is supposed to be better implemented. I read earlier today, in Ableton Answers and Gearslutz post, that some producers are using the quad core cpu with success and marked in performance w SB gen of these cpu's. Someone suggested that Ableton had problems w the core parking, turbo and speedstepping in the 1st gens.

I am looking at ordering the new workstaion from Rain Computers. I am seriously considering the LivebookV2 w/ the i7 2670qm 2.2ghz cpu.. I am calling them next week to get more advice. I REALLY need to be certain there is good air flow inside the chasis for starters, so I minimise the chance of cooking things under heatsinks again. I appreciate any additional advice or personal experience anyone may offer using mentioned CPU's

Good luck! If I were personally buying today I'd get an i5-2500 (not the i5-2500K version, I never overclock). Here's an interesting write-up I found that discusses the differences between the i5s and the i7s:

No matter which you get I'm sure you'll be satisfied, they're both excellent architectures.

Probably already noticed. I'm a wee bit too tired to read through the Thread. My sketchy details are as follows.

(a) Loaded an instance of Diva in Ableton Live 8.2.7. Everything was working fine.
(b) Loaded a second instance of Diva and I got a loud sound burst. After the 'explosion' there was no sound outputting from the second instance.

Windows 7 64bit. 32bit (Ableton) Application. Sony VAIO. No more details really. I was working on a Track at the time, and that's as best as I can remember about it.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Thanks again, for the good info. Acc to that article we're talking about an insignificant incr in clockspeed 100Mhz b/t the two classes (versus cost). You may have saved me money with that link. I am definitely on tight budget here. I will take this up with the Rain rep next wk. :) PS- If I were in the states or Can I would definitely check into ADK audio workstations, looks like a good company

I know your looking into the spike issue on Win 7 x64, but thought I'd pass on a particular patch that is 100% killer for me every time.

In Dream Synth bankd ... HS Maxi Swoop.

At first I thought it was Plate 2, but turning it off didn't fix the problem, it just made it less frequent.

I can play a single note slowly. But if I play 3 or 4 notes rapidly it spikes. With Plate2 turned off, it unspikes in about 10-15 seconds and I can play a few notes before another spike. With Plate2 on, it takes about 20-30 seconds to clear.

I'll continue messing with that patch to see if I can figure out what setting is causing the spike.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer
