No, the last edited preset is always saved by the host (even in AU)
But in VST also the complete bank is saved. AU does not support banks at all.
I added a point to the Phonem FAQ:

I've yet to get Phonem, it's on my Christmas list.

I would say that the problem of losing resources / presets is something I struggled with on WaveMapper2. I get your point that settings are saved when you close the project but I tend to create presets within a specific project and then use the presets elsewhere. Even so I've still lost/ overwritten a number of resources and presets when working within a dedicated patchbuilder project in Cubase Pro 8.

I've used a fair number of VSTs over the last 10 years or so but Wavemapper2 keeps tripping me up. I have other VSTs that create new resources like Alchemy and Serum but don't encounter the same problems.

All the PPG products are fantastic sonically, technically and musically, totally inspiring to go and create your own sounds - it seems a shame that the patch save issues sometimes make me reach for other tools simply because I don't need to have to worry that I might lose the sound I'm working on.

So ... this will never get a Trial version ? :?:

Just bought PPG Wavemapper 2 in order to create additional resources to use in Phonem, this should get even exciting...maybe I should program everything in Cubase now using the VST version, I'll check it out.

It might seem odd, but these things are quite complex due to the different hosts and systems, like VST2,3 and AU. I am currently working on a solution not only for the resources but also the browser/banks problem.

Wolfgang, that is great to hear. I have both wavemapper2 and Wavegenerator and intend to get Phonem for Christmas. Changes to the browser/ banks and preset saving will make them so much easier for me to work with.

I am totally wowed now, re-synthesizing samples in Wavemapper and using these as wavetables inside Phonem opens totally new sonic dimensions, a killer combo!

I semi-apologize Simon, as for some reason I had assumed/believed you already had Wavemapper, and that {combo} was in large part my basis for being very enthused for you, regarding Phenom, aside from its inherent qualities/potential. Glad to hear you've found/made this "union".

Your enthusiasm and expertise are always refreshing. 8)

That would more than likely prove ~ "wise".
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Thank's - oh dear - too late to say “it wasn't me“ now :D - it's gonna be great, Phonem rocks in it's very own way. Wolfgang probably needs a little rest from my persistent nagging in this thread :phones:

Oh, please don't semi-apologize (nor total) - I had never really heard of Wavemapper until a few days ago when I got very interested in the import-button in Phonem, visited Wolfgang's website, had a little read, since then I knew I had to get it, because using re-synthesized samples in something like Phonem just had to be the ideal combo - and it sure is.

have you tried Audio Term? I use that to create wavewtables that can then be used Serum, PPG Wavemapper2, PPG Wave Generator and various other synths.

I have been using Serum exclusively over the last year as I really dig it's WT editor and the exported wavs can be used almost everywhere else, so in combo with Wavemapper I should be fine for the next years. I don't want to learn another piece of software really, my head is already exploding as it is, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
