I was thinking to sell it and look for a second hand copy of Ableton Standard but I'll hold off. I can use this version as is for now.
If Bitwig decided to give a $50 EU discount to encourage sales during a time limited promotional period bringing the upgrade cost to $119 EUs I'd take the leap of faith now but for the moment I am staying put.
License model no way !!!

How so? They basically just re-built Live and added requested features from Live's user base. And, Live has native Max/MSP integration whcih lets you be as "innovative" and modular as you want... Calling it the most innovative is kind of a stretch when Live built the ship that Bitwig modeled itself on...nortle wrote:[this is the most innovative DAW on the market..

So, you´re doing this for a living. And then 5,75$ more per month for your essential creative tool is the crunchpoint? Thats really mad. What about buying 2 chickenburger less per month?dnbhallifax wrote:No, the consensus is that $99 is just right. Maybe you should read through the whole thread... Hilarious dude. I compose and produce for a living. I can afford this no problem, but I won't pay it because it's the most expensive model on the market. PT is arguable less expensive if you don't cancel your subscription... It's about ethics and cost per feature in competitive products... And their condescending attitude aint helping much either...nortle wrote:Every $ is too much for the people.. Maybe then they are not the right customers if mamas pocket money is the maximum price of a DAW.

Ever experienced the cpu consumption and instability of max devices in live? guess not .. some devices load 10 seconds and more if you insert them.dnbhallifax wrote:How so? Not really a cripple as you would still have all features, might need to do more work to bounce tracks down, If it's a hobby then you don't have deadlines to meet.Lejurai wrote:Cripple the software? Hell no. They already have 8track for that.scottt wrote:How about a Reaper style license ?
If you earn money from Bitwig full price, If you don't make money half price.
If the bitwig team can't trust the honesty of it's users then limit the amount of tracks on the half price version to accommodate the hobbyist.

I am happy to see software improvements... but Bitwig 1 IMO was a disaster and I will not pay more money to experiment with version 2, I hope it's great but I will let others take that risk... , I got burned with 1, wasted my money, and out of principal I can't do the same thing twice..., in 2 whole years it was never stable enough for me to use, I've done 1 song with it, ended up going back to Ableton when they improved automation compensation.... version 2 should be free for license holders of version 1 because version 1 was not usable for such a long period of time.

Please explain unstable! You mean like crashes? I got crashed from time to time when I was making lots of beats on my MPC 2000xl back in the days - somewhat you got used to it, like every 70 beat being wasted. I'm asking cause I make lots of music, in all sort of daws I own but I never really understand the unstableness of Bitwig, I had a few crashes but they felt so MPCish so I took me all with a smile. Plus Bitwig recreate your beat if it crashes, MPC just laugh in your face and the beat is gone unless you Zip drived it.humanbeingbeing wrote:I am happy to see software improvements... but Bitwig 1 IMO was a disaster and I will not pay more money to experiment with version 2, I hope it's great but I will let others take that risk... , I got burned with 1, wasted my money, and out of principal I can't do the same thing twice..., in 2 whole years it was never stable enough for me to use, I've done 1 song with it, ended up going back to Ableton when they improved automation compensation.... version 2 should be free for license holders of version 1 because version 1 was not usable for such a long period of time.
Sometimes the unstable:ism is nothing more than a human error (like a user issue).

I am so surprised at the whining here.
Bitwig developers have included many features in this update.
They have a business plan to deliver more, as fast as possible.
Instead of saying "Thank you," many whine about $13 a month!
Spotify is $12 a month, for other people's music.
Count your blessings.

You read too quick "never stable enough for me to use"-- not "unstable" - can't respond to a quote I didn't make. I am not talking about system stability, tho that has been a huge issue over the years, there have been thousands of bugs, you shouldn't be assuming human errors, the issues with Bitwig are documented in their release notes... there were releases that took 1 step forward, 2 steps back.... bugs are more my issue, workflow killers.... I used to use the MPC 2000 in the 90's, frankly it's not hard to improve on that workflow... I would be surprised if Bitwig wasn't more "stable" now (after 2 years), but I am surprised that they are asking for more money after version 1. To reiterate, I bought 1, I gave it 30 or so shots (30!) and to do that again for version 2 makes me feel like a sucker. I'd be happy to give it a whirl if it were free, but for money, that's a joke IMO.

Maybe 2.0 should be free for the early adopters and advocates with the first week badge... I think recent users have probably had less issues... I know a lot of people walked away from Bitwig after the first year of patches.

Then why are you still here ? Does not make sense. You obviously do not make music using Bitwig.humanbeingbeing wrote:I am happy to see software improvements... but Bitwig 1 IMO was a disaster and I will not pay more money to experiment with version 2, I hope it's great but I will let others take that risk... , I got burned with 1, wasted my money, [...]

I do not make music with Bitwig.
I am here because I heard about version 2.0.
I wrote on this board because I am not happy with them asking for more money.
I learned my lesson with 1.0... I'm also used to the fanboy defense on forums, go head, my 2 cents have been given.
Paid shrill doesn't make sense, post history.

I hear you! Sorry I missread you! Interesting you have the Mpc background as well, u still use it? I have the 1000 now with JJOS 3. Pretty stable. What are you going back to, Ableton? I would miss the big beautiful edit window in Bitwig, specially when trucking around with breaks and samples. Peace!humanbeingbeing wrote:SpaceTraffic wrote:Please explain unstable! Np man it's all peace. I'm not hating too much on Bitwig, I just won't pay the money on principal, but I hope Bitwig 2 is great. I don't use the MPC anymore, it was great for it's time, I also had a 1000 for a while... pad controllers and such... now I'm using Push 2 with Ableton... I was frustrated with Ableton for ages but they seem to have addressed my major issues, I would love to jump from Ableton TBH....
