Well, I have a MarkIV - I don't think the Pseudo-Rectifier models could cover that special sound. It's rather mid-oriented, but it suits my needs quite well though (apart from the fact that right now something seems to be seriously broken on the damn thing... has to see the repair shop next week).Midiworks wrote: Please ask Sascha Franck what he thinks about it,

For explications of the "draft" GUI, please read here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2951cd4a5b
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Features:
3 very different amp simulations
(working atm on the "harsher" amp that was requested)
All 3 amps can be inter-connected in some tricky ways,
that give you way more sonic possibliltys than just 3 amps would.
Many great speaker simulations.
(of the worlds finest speakers)
5 Band EQ (Boogie clone)
+
Bass/mid/high/presence
+
Bright/normal switch
+
Sub bass switch
(for extra fat sounds)
WahWah and Volume
(via external midi control pedal)
Compressor/gate
Chorus/Phaser/Flanger
Delay (bpm sync)
Reverb
--------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU usage with all things switched on,
is 14-18% of my P4 2ghz, at the moment.
Most things but not all can be turned off,
to save CPU.
Runnin only the pure amp & cabs,
is using around 8-10%.
Thats the feature list at the moment,
this may change at any time.
So stay tuned !

Yes, I remember we talked quite a lot about this here.luka2807 wrote:Long time ago I was aking you whether your ampsim can achieve that high gain "Rammstein" (or any trash/nu/hardcore) sound (think chugga-chugga sound). Maybe you can answer me now.
Did'nt you read that ?
I like that Rammstein idea a lot,
but what they do is not easy to archive.
I will keep that idea in mind and try builing that
after the release of this one.
Who knows, maybe I find a trick to get that sound.

I am very curious too. The high-gain demos sound great, but I am curious about how the clean/semi-dirty sounds are. Since you seem to be focusing on good dynamics, it would be great to hear some demos of a clean guitar (volume low) progressively being played louder or turning the volume knob up to make the amp start to saturate/distort.

Yes, you are absolutly right those demos are needed.brianbrian wrote:I am very curious too. The high-gain demos sound great, but I am curious about how the clean/semi-dirty sounds are. It would be great if you could provide a demo guitar mp3,
where you use your guitar just like this !
(please, if you can do this, only plug your guitar into your soundcard and record,
no preamps, nothing but the pure guitar sound is needed.)
It would be great and helpfull if you could find the time Brian.
So whats new, the new amp stage is nearly finished.
Added a new chorus and reverb.
Working on a new fx... yes still.
Guys and girls,
I know all this takes a long time but I really want, that in the end,
YOU will get the most amazing amp sim there is.
Thanks for all your great support !

Ok I will try to find some time this week to record something. In fact I will record my guitar through my cheap Internet PC with onboard sound! If I record through my Creamware card and converters it might sound too good. If it makes the recording through the Intel onboard sound good, that is quite an accomplishment!
Don't worry, take your time. It is better that you are concerned with perfecting your project rather than releasing it before it feels "done" to you.

Maybe you can record the same thing through both,
then we can hear the difference.
I think so too.brianbrian wrote: Don't worry, take your time. It is better that you are concerned with perfecting your project rather than releasing it before it feels "done" to you.
Sorry for the wait anyway...

This is true, but there is also another thing to consider.. if some folks here are willing to spend $250, you don't want to sell to them for $99. You just missed out on profit potential. But on the flip, if folks are willing to pay $99 but your price is $250, your losing the profit potential of the $99's. The cost of the products development was the same across the board, and there are no price-per-unit costs (or at least negligible for a downloaded product), so you definitely want to get every dollar you can...championrabbit wrote:Midiworks has some excellent (and free) customer research RIGHT HERE in this thread.
It is safe to assume that 99% of people in this thread are potential customers.
But how many of these customers has made it know that they are willing to pay $250?
.. snip for brevity ..
Result?
Happy customers.
More customers.
More money for Midiworks.
Happy Midiworks.
so what do you do?...
you segment!.. anyone notice that amplitube has multiple versions at multiple price points?. you wonder why?.. maximizing profit potential... you say, sure, you can pay $99 but you only get 1 of the amp stages. most of the development was already done so "repackaging" a lite version would be fairly trivial, and you could capture some of the $99 folks, while selling the "super mega" version to the folks that are willing to fork out $250 (or whatever)..
anyway, not any of my own thinking, read http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/ ... ckies.html on joel on software for a whole article on software pricing.... makes a lot of sense.[/url]

Well, it's been nearly a year since your first post on this subject Midiworks. How are things coming along, when will there be a demo? I checked out the mp3 demos and they sound pretty nice. But sound is one thing and how the plug will react to actual playing is a different story. I've found that the sound gets muddy and loses definition in most amp sims when you roll off the volume on the guitar. So far the only amp sim I've tried out that has some kind of realistic feel is NI's Guitar Rig.
I'm totally fed up with amp sims that promise 'tube' this and that, but when it comes down to it they pretty much suck - and they all pretty much do (some more than others think Amplitube, Rock Amp Legends).
Looking forward to trying your go at this Midiworks.
