Is it a blind test as written in soundcloud or actually Virus C first and Viper second? The sound itself is basicly the same, but the character does feel somewhat slightly different. Also soundcloud does add compression so its difficult to hear. Can you post a wave file?izonin wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 6:29 am I was surprised how close to the original it can sound. I originally posted this as a blind test in another topic, but yes, the first synth is the Virus C. You can download the wave file from SoundCloud or here:Lbdunequest wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 7:31 am Is it a blind test as written in soundcloud or actually Virus C first and Viper second? And you're right, there's a slight difference in the sound of the filter resonance.

Oh, I didnt know that. Fantasticadamtrance wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 7:28 amHave two Vipers side by side, and load an empty bank in one of them and your soundbanks on the other. In the browser you can right click on the preset (or from the Viper main menu) and select "Copy Preset", then you can paste it in the Viper with the empty bank. This way you can create your favourite sounds very fast.ThomasLehmann wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 7:23 am I would like to have a soundbank window with two banks were I could copy and drag and drop sounds between, like in the Virus TI. This way I would organize my big library of sounds. At now it is impossible to manage my big library of virus soundbanks. I have to load a bank and have to save preset for preset over the menu.

Browsing some of the patches, I noticed that a few of them sound quite different at 48 vs. 96 KHz. This was rendered with Viper version 1.1.0 in Ableton. Same note, same patch.

Interesting. I'll test this. 96khz sounds dope, but pitche seems higher or higher filter... interesting.

Yes, Viper is designed for 44.1 KHz just like the Virus. 48 KHz could still work, but you should definitely not go higher, things will "break" and you are just wasting CPU usage.izonin wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 2:54 pm Browsing some of the patches, I noticed that a few of them sound quite different at 48 vs. 96 KHz. But virus might have higher internal rate that downsamples. That would explain why virus ti sounds just better, more hi-fi.adamtrance wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 3:09 pmYes, Viper is designed for 44.1 KHz just like the Virus. 48 KHz could still work, but you should definitely not go higher, things will "break" and you are just wasting CPU usage.izonin wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 2:54 pm Browsing some of the patches, I noticed that a few of them sound quite different at 48 vs. 96 KHz. Was good as designer,it's good as developer and result of all that together is imho Viper default library is most practically usable presets collection found in any vst synth i've tried so far
Filter list could be upgraded with new types like Acid 303,MS20 so on...these two especially with make Viper very attractive and diverse for non Virus users
By the way i ask moons ago here about how to polish output sound of Viper so to be maximum close to Virus, but i think i found better solution for me - used a presed in serial mode with two MS20 filters, put Arturia Ms20 filter on top and get...better ms20 sound hihihihihihi
I mean use the fx,which will get you where you wanna go or experiment with different fx till achieve desired sound, sometimes thing are too obvious and miss the, other time you surprisingly will find the solution with fx,synths or samples where they are unexpected - for example, work on hip hop track and was surprised the moment i change the more advanced synth i use for bass line with more simple, but effective and convincing sonicaly and some aprentice sound design magic on it, the sound and ideas flow like a river in better direction, the composition was ready, but the sound was stuck in nowhere, now everything get new vibe and dynamics i was missing:)
Music is fantasy, only limitation is your imagination
Cheers

That doesnt matter, what happens internally is what matters not what gets input to it. Viper has oversampling internally where its needed, so it sounds just as hi-fiLbdunequest wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 3:26 pm But virus might have higher internal rate that downsamples. No, it might not. You do realize he (Adam) can measure that tight? And it does not explain it. Because the same patch sounds the same. If you talk about difference in Virus hardware converter that does not have anything with upsampling/downsampling.Lbdunequest wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 3:26 pm But virus might have higher internal rate that downsamples. The original Virus A, B, and C run at 46,875 Hz internally. The TI can run at both 44,100 and 48,000 Hz, and can also output 88.2KHz and 96KHz signals through 2x oversampling (while its engine still runs at the lower rates internally).Lbdunequest wrote: Fri May 05, 2023 3:26 pm But virus might have higher internal rate that downsamples.
