Really? Bitwig has three developers, which can hardly be described as "huge" compared to anyone (and Cockos has never exactly been a one-man-show).

Yes twice the size is generally "Huge" if your head was twice the size then it would be called "Huge"

What's with all the Ableton nonsense again in these threads, seriously is Bitwig really that threatening to Ableton users that they have to constantly remind everybody how the developers came from Ableton or it is a complete copy of live (Even though nobody here has used it yet) or that Ableton will be coming with this feature and are great with their user support and blah blah blah, this is a Bitwig thread, and honestly the comparisons and defensive behaviour is just so very tired now.

It seems beyond reasonable doubt that Bitwig have deliberately courted these comparisons with Ableton for whatever reason. Bitwig Studio is a subject of discussion on practically every internet music technology board right now, and everywhere you will see the same response. And this isn't just an Ableton user thing - you find it on the professional blog sites and media too. You will see it in every review. You will hear it wherever Bitwig are discussed. e.g.

It's disingenuous to imply they didn't themselves court and expect these comparisons. Personally I think that to launch a brand new product in a fairly saturated market in the middle of a major recession and NOT give it a distinctive look/feel/image is a massive marketing fail and miscalculation on their part, because they will now forever be compared with Ableton whether they like it or not.

Here's my 2 cents:

I'm interested in checking Bitwig Studio out when it comes along (also very interested in Live 9 and I hope it comes soon).

Also curious as to how folk expect the feature set and GUI to be drastically different from Live (or any other DAW) with the whole Clip/session view (+standard DAW) paradigm anyway?

Seems to me that most DAWs have almost identical features and from a usability standpoint there isn't a lot that differ between them other than basic look and feel... whether transport bars go top or bottom, the browser left or right etc.

I don't know what people are honestly expecting... most of us want to the same feature set from a DAW and are going to choose the one that has the most of those features (see Studio One).

The GUI reminded me a bit of Maschine in feel, which I don't mind at all... guess the proof will be in the pudding (Sorry, I must be hungry.)

Same here. Bigwig Studio seems to be perfect for my needs, will use it as a second DAW option, my primary DAW is Cubase 6.

I will surely buy it once it has been officially released. I have never bothered buying Live, (imho. a good decision), and after reading all the negative feedback/bugs in Live 8, and the fact that Live 9 has not yet materialized, I'm so glad to see Bitwig Studio come to life, plus, I could never stand the bright GUI of Live. Bitwig-Studio's GUI looks Awesome, and the features are great, these guys are starting fresh with the right concept, and heading in the right direction.

Hopefully, they will get a lot of new users, and be a big success in the DAW world.

dont forget to add that beside "dark grey" which isnt that much dark anyway, they are all hideous.

Thanks for the feedback, but, I don't own Live, and don't plan to buy it either.

Bitwig-Studio is what I plan to get as soon as it's officially released.

Unfortunately under all those different color schemes is still Live, no thanks i'll give Bitwig Studio a try though
