I feel stupid for not offering to do this for himalaya.. He's been having lot's of trouble with this and this seems like the easiest solution of all. It hadn't crossed my mind the solution could be that simple.

Cool, glad to hear it, what a load of tripe though just to get a demo, but at least it works, himalaya wrote:Breakmixer, your method worked !All the other links recommended in this thread did not. But I'm in. Cool and the gand.3. Click on 'Don't have an account yet? Create it before purchase.'

Anyone else having issues point them to that method!
Call it the 'page 23 method', so people can find it in this ever evolving 'I cannot download the demo's!' thread!

Wavestation...hmmm....I'm underwhelmed. I was expecting to find some beautiful soundscapes which I could immerse in for hours, but after browsing all presets (ouch, there's so many) I'm left disappointed. I was much more impressed by some of the lead sounds. Very cool. Also, some of the wavesequenced drum loops/rhythms are great fun. Cheesy, but fun nonetheless.

Yes. I like MonoPoly a lot. I remember playing the real one in the past and liking it a lot. The four oscillators help to get a wider pallete of sounds than standard 2 Osc VA synths. There's Sync, X-Mod, the chord memory function, and a bonus in the shape of two effects ! Very flexible. The filter however, is a bit polite on my first try. I also miss an HP filter, which the MS20 has. However, thanks to the effects, the HP filter could be emulated with the (very) flexible EQ, so that's good.mcnoone wrote:Did you try the MonoPoly?himalaya wrote:Wavestation...hmmm....

I was also pleasantly surprised by PolySix. Even though it is a very simple synth, it sounds very good, and its simplicity has a very vintage charm about it. Again, the chord memory function is a great help to get more complex sounds, and it is certainly a good way to get contemporary progressive house plucks, which often consist of a chord.
The MS20, I need to spend more time with, however on my first try the filter shows a lot of promise. I used to play an MS20 a long time ago in a studio I used to work in, and I always wanted to buy a real MS20. To be honest, DCAM's Cypher gives me that sound already (plus much more) so I need to play with MS20 a bit more to see if it is worth me reaching for my wallet.
But, Wavestation....the only reason for me to buy it, would be if I wanted to create a sound bank for it, or if I was stuck in a Toto covers band.

I remember I sold the HW version with no, or few, regrets.
There are some great sounds in it, but well its just sounds very very digital
+ I found programming some news instruments on it quite long and not very rewardable cos they are often far of my own expectations. It has some outstanding and very in depth functions for WaveTables managing, but I found it very slow to program.
For the MS-20 it has its own flavor and a great depth in programming. Its really an interesting synth. It can't do everything but what it does it does perfectly.
And for the Polysix well it just shines as much in a mix as it is easy to operate. If I ever had to recommend a "simple and fast to operate, yet great " VA to someone this would be between PolySix and the Imp'. ( And btw the Imp' is probably harder to program at second thought )

I have to come back and correct what I wrote there. The MS20 filter is a beauty and it sounds very different to Cypher's filter - at which ever mode (Filter type and filter model). It rips (so does the Cypher filter, but it sounds different). There's something very nice about that MS20 filter at high resonance. My wallet is trembling now as I want that quality at my disposal.himalaya wrote:d.

Also, I'm again surprised at the lovely raw basic tone in PolySix, which not even the MonoPoly can muster. Using just the single osc with a sub, it can produce a very lush but delicately raw sound. I really like it. The MonoPoly filter is a bit tame, however. It's nice for long sweeps, as there is some subtle growl happening, but for sharp plucks it's too polite. MonoPoly's X-Mod plus Sync and its implementation (ease of use and flexibility) is great though. Also, the split oscillator mode, where each oscillator sounds in series is brilliant for cool arrpegios. Arrgh...I may need to buy all three....Arrghh...no....somebody stop me... all I wanted was the Wavestation!
