With a great GUI it would be so much better.
Plugmon showed me how to make a GUI which feels like a major upgrade with the Zebra 2 and HZ massive modular.
Arcsyn is sadly not usable for me on my notebook.
It's possible of course but the GUI.....no way.
But just my worthless 2 cents.
am not crazy about the GUI, but more on an aesthetic level than a functional one. why can't you use it on your notebook? (am on a 13" macbook pro, and works well here)...
I´m using a 15" macbook pro retina. It´s def. usable but i´m at a point and have many great plug-ins that the GUI and workflow is as important as the sound for me.
Maybe i´m to much used to high resolution GUI´s but it´s just a thing i really don´t like here.
I prefer the sound over this other new synth which was mentioned here too but the GUI (and workflow) is so much better that i prefer the not so good sound in this case.
That is just my personal meaning of course and has nothing to say. The reason i sometimes like my iOS synths more than my "big" synths is that they (mostly) have a fantastic GUI with high resolution. It seems to evolve very slowly here in desktop world.
But hey, even apple was not able to update all their own tools to a modern GUI, so it might be more difficult than thought.
I just think the developer of Arcsyn could have a lot more sales with a much better GUI.

I'm not a designer and I'm pretty sure there have been enough opinions shared about the gui and possible improvements to it. Yet I'd like to throw one more log on the fire. I don't think its just an issue of colors or fonts and what-not. I also think its an issue of directing the focus to what makes the workflow, thus the plugin, unique. IOW, it's not selling the sizzle.

In Bazille and ACE its the patch cords. They are not just unique they are integral to the workflow on those synths. Without them a mod matrix would have had an incredibly long list of possible destinations.

Most of what's in Serum is not all that unique except the way it allows the user to work with, and get visual feedback from, the waveform window. It's the focus of the interface and rightfully so.

And so without listing a ton of synths to get my point across I think that improvements to the gui should not just focus on the mod matrix but also the lfo step sequencer. I really like the sound of the synth. But the sequencer is the sizzle part of the workflow. The fact that the oscillator and filter sections take up such an enormous amount of the real estate doesn't seem balanced (all things considered). I mean if it was an actual piece of hardware I might appreciate this or that large knob. But it isn't and I don't. I work with a mouse or a controller when I want to adjust a parameter. So the size of those giant knobs aren't really improving the workflow for me.

IMHO, any improvements need to also include a re-imagining of that workspace. What's there now is a great first effort. But it sells the synth short. Highlight the unique filters, lfo step sequencer and matrix. Sell the sizzle.

That looks good! :tu:

One thing: I imagine instead of the yellow around the knobs etc. a certain white would fit better to the overall look.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I can't argue with any of this. Of course I just totally dislike the GUI altogether so any improvement will be an improvement.

I actually like the big knobs. Aiming at tiny targets is the damnation of writing music with a computer. Thumbs up to big knobs!

Just prefer dark is all... Like Bitwig, etc.

Trust you to pick it up the wrong way - very childish.

you might want to update the plugin first. the new look for the synth name is much better...

didn't take it any way except knowing you don't like or agree with anything i say or do.
nothing childish about that.

Well... Then that's you bother man...

I still prefer a Dark GUI irregardless of your opinion. Maybe that's why I have my Ableton and Studio 1 all set to Dark as well.

Those gradients on those buttons look very dated, way too weighty as well.
