Some info was whited out for security reasons.

It was a long time coming.
 8)
The note that came with it was very encouraging. The band loves my stuff and are hoping to do more of my songs in the future.

But my very modest dream of 44 years has been realized.

Oddly, that's good enough for me.

You should have seen the smile on my wife's face. She might have been happier for me than I was.

Believe me, I know you are. And if that looked anything like sarcasm I'm too high up in the air right now to notice.

You should be stripped of your British citizenship for that.

I have been trying to get what this conversation is about more precisely by reading the last few pages. I am not sure I am on the right track, but I felt you had some discouragement about your music and then a kind of katharsis by the post above. Congratulations, you made it after all :tu:

I can tell a story too of katharsis. I left high school in favor of music shool at a young age to become nothing less than a famous musician, preferably a synth pop star or a film composer. I had a few projects, which failed because my first bandmate went schizofrenic and my next died from smoking heroin. After my exam at music school, I was too discouraged to continue a career in music and took a course to finish my high school exam and went to the university for another career. However, this could not fulfill my needs for a musical identity too, so I continued producing as hobbyist and spent 30 years deluding myself into the notion that I was a techno-producer. I never really felt for any of it, and the gear became more important than the results.

However, in 2018, I was reunited with another old friend after thirty years apart. He went to the same music school as me, but not at the same time. A classical guitar player whose life was a mess, but I started visit him monthly for jamming and even arranged jam vacations for him at my place. After two years, magic happened and we got our Tribe Of Hofund project up running. I realised that I am no fancy techno producer but basically just a folk musician who likes to make use of my training in classical composition in particular. I embed it in electronic sound, all right, but with most weight on the folk aspect. It was like finally coming home. I could choose to see the 30 years of doing failed techno as wasted opportunities, but I don’t. On the contrary I feel that being so long in the darkness has made me appreciate the light at the end of the tunnel even more. It all makes sense now, even my 5 years at music school in my early age. I hope your long journey makes your recent succes as meaningsful to you as well. I needed only one succesful tune to get my katharsis, the rest are icing on the cake. Hope this milestone will be yours no matter what happens from now.

Kind Regards
Gothi

I wouldn’t know about that, but I must admit that your avatar makes me feel like beating up somebody, preferably you. Is it chosen for this effect intentionally?

I understand your frustration, though. Not making it as a techno producer :hihi:

That was a yes to my question in my eyes. Well, maybe we will meet some day, and your dreams will come true.
