Ah, but with software, before you can hear a damn thing - add a decent computer, sound card and monitors... = $3,205.56!!

But you'd need that to record a real Twin as well, don't you?

Yeah I know I'm just making fun - but I was thinking more about the fact of what I need to get a sound out of my guitar. Believe it or not, I have a nice Fender strat and no amp whatsoever - oh the sacrilege!

I don't know why everyone continues to be surprised. Does nobody remember the entire SampleTank2 fiasco? This is just round 2 (or 3... there might be other releases that were the same) of the exact same release date wackiness. If I'm remembering correctly, ST2 was out an entire YEAR after its initially-announced date.

It must be Italian time :D

Len, I don't use pc amp sims (don't care for the latency or using the cpu)...I use Pods (2.0 and xt live) or a sansamp for recording...the PODs have one major advantage...saving your presets...I do not need presets to achieve sounds I want, I'm old...I got use to tweaking before I was out of grade school...but...and this is a big but...if you're like me and you work on several projects and switch between which ever you're in the mood for. Saving the amp tones presets for the song is a dream come true. I used cameras, I have spent much time trying to match the tones...in fact I have done punch ins that have ruined the entire track (talking analog days now) because I didn't get the sound to be a perfect match. Now true, John Q. Public won't hear the difference I will...now I can save every aspect, even if I wait a year...it still matches...also many amps are really one sound amps....anyone who has owned a plexi knows exactly what I'm speaking of...and if that doesn't convince you, consider this...amps break.

FWIW another great thing is not having an open mic in the room...many of us are condo/apartment dwellers...I'm not much of a fan of having Bill and Sue Fightsalot screaming at each other in the middle of a solo...then there's the other side of that coin....the neighbors wouldn't be too happy if I turned my stack up at 3am.

.. AT2 broke this record easily .. :P

I have a question about Amplitube 1 - I'm thinking this thread might be the best place to ask since there are probably lots of AT1 users here and this thread is a-rockin'.

AT1 can't handle difference between sample rate in project and rendering (I'm using Live 5.0.3). If I work in 44.1KHz and want to make a 96KHz rendering, I get higher-pitched audio. Likewise, if I work in 96KHz and render in 44.1KHz, the audio is pitched lower than it should. AT1 seems to be the only plug-in with this issue.

Oh, and the AU version doesn't work at all (again, in Live 5.0.3).

I wrote IK support, they could only advice me to download the latest version, which I already have.

Anyone have this problem using it with other hosts?

Will Amplitube 2 make the Brown note sound squishy?

Didn't Adam and Jamie bust that myth :hihi:

Hey maybe we can call mythbusters and see if these amp sims are real.....while we're at it we'll get them to see if nickle guitar strings in fact stretch... :hihi:

NoBrain2k wrote:I'd rather have a good amp AND amplitube 2... Then you have the best of both worlds. When my band writes a song we like to do a quick demo recording using amplitube and sampletank drums and stuff like that, it really helps us get a feel for the song and try out ideas easily. However if we were having to mic up an amp every time it would make it more work, less portable, less flexible and less immediate. When we finally get to "the album" we will more than likely mic real amps, but our Amplitube tracks give us a really good idea what we are heading towards. So I wouldn't swap it for anything.
Sounds like a no brainer to me! ;) You rock.

Yeah, getting a real amp has been an option since the 40's? (in fact, I even have an old Magnatone from the 40's... sounds GREAT in fact). I am always one for getting the real deal (especially vintage gear). But, to get exactly what AmpliTube 2 does in software wasn't possible until... well, at this point how about next week? ;) :D It starts shipping out to dealers on Monday. Just relaying some first-hand inside info. Believe or don't believe ya freakin' skeptics! Just kidding. I should take a picture of the boxes all lined up in the IK office for proof!

Got some other interesting info. I think I'll post it in a thread that is less than 238 pages though. (how you find a post in a thread this long is beyond me  )
