That's because Octopus was actually coded by Maxx, based on a concept by him and Peter Linsener.

Still worth $20 of anyone's money.

Edit: just to be clear I mean it's still worth buying even though it's been discontinued not worth buying in spite of being coded by Maxx :hihi:

I've always liked Octopus's sound as opposed to the other usual FM suspects. At this price I'm probably definitely gonna have to finally get it! :)

I don't think they're available any more.

@swatwork - I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I knew that it was made by Maxx Claster and was just saying that it reminded me of one of his other synths- Toxic II - the one before he switched to the consumer stereo motif). I don't know if they share a codebase or anything, but it reminds me of it quite a lot. That's a very good thing.

@aMUSEd - I just clicked through and bought mine right before I posted that it was still up. I don't know if Linplug is going to "fix" that or leave it up for a while for anyone that happens upon it and wants to buy. I'd imagine that Linplug knows since the purchase email has downloads from their servers. At least I have mine if they stop it. If they're still up for a bit I may get another one. RMV is rather interesting.

OK that's cool - I rushed to buy Organ 3 because they said it was a limited time sale but maybe they forgot about the limit?

Post

They said originally they would only support these for another year (based on their original month long sale I guess) so, if that still holds, then they could be ending it in a month or so. Worth bearing in mind if you buy now, only have a few weeks to ensure you're happy/everything's working etc (but then that's what demos are for :)). They did say though that the sale was so popular that they left the links open though for how long....?

I bought Alpha3 and find using it almost as my 'go to' synth; the presets cover all bases to get a track up and running, very low CPU, nice selection of waveforms etc. I may swap it out but often won't (I tend to process heavily and it sounds more than fine in those cases). It does lack deep bass but, perversely, I use it's bass presets a lot as they sit in a mix really well (lets face it, a lot of what we think of as bass lines aren't necessarily that deep).

The preset packs for Alpha3 are cool as well.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

It still seems like RMV is the most comprehensive drum plugin ever to exist.. and I still don't own it. You say the links still work?

It worked two days ago when I bought Octopus.

Cool.. it's a steal for that price - they all are really.

I bought Octopus and Relectro yesterday.

Octopus is good, but I think I prefer FM8 for its interface and greater range of effects. Still, Octopus does have a different sound, and I like having a variety of synths with different GUIs/workflows.

I'm loving Relectro. It's great for glitchifying drum loops, although I haven't had any success applying it to tuned instuments. Many of the presets sound awful to begin with, but turning down the "AMT" parameter to very low settings brings back much of the character of the input signal, and messing with the filters and EQ can also limit the amount of glitchy-ness applied to particular hits.

RMV is probably the most incredible value you will ever find, beside the fact that it is an amazingly comprehensive and full-featured sample manipulation and percussion tool. If you can still get it for $20, do not hesitate if you use beats at all.

Of course, this is coming from one who owns every single LinPlug product out there except SaxLab (only because I would never use it...) They all are full of character and capability.

Just bought RMV - so I can confirm the link is still working for that one. Deal of the decade..

At least :D

I am now the very proud owner of RMV and Relectro and the last three days has been
nothing but fun.
The only "problem" now is that I have to demo their official plugins. Especially MorphoX and
propably also CRX4.
If they are anything like RMV and Relectro I will be 200$ poorer. :x :hihi:

Big :tu: to LinPlug from me.
Sound C loud
Band C amp
Clicks and pops is all I get
