Just so we are speaking English together, slope on internal parametric bands is arbitrary based on Q. So, "slope" in that context is irrelevant. Fixed slope from a track context is really only useful as an input global. There are some musical context where that isn't true. The built in EQ is not for those purposes IMO.

Just remember difference between Instrument Track and Instrument Rack.SJ_Digriz wrote:hmm ... maybe we are saying 2 different things. I just tried to archive a BFD multi-out setup with routings to group tracks and a couple of FX tracks and the routings did not restore for the FX and Groups. I'll have to play with it some more. Because basically that is what I need. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.lfm wrote: Thanks - tested and made a track archive(export selected tracks) with instrument track with superior drummer, and 7 named stereo outs(only visible in mixer then for instrument track), and these routed to a drumsbus grouptrack - worked just fine, all restored on track archive import in a new project.
It need to be Instrument Track activating the extra outs.
And not sure yet if order matter - I happend to have group channel last and free placement outside group channel folder.
If it makes it in reverse order, and outs need to be in place once outs are to be routed - or something. Just mention it.
And it could be bugs that certain combinations fail in doing it.
Instrument Tracks is yet another feature that was made halfbaked to start with, just one stereo out - and if it was 7.5 that made it multi out as well.
So the new import tracks from project directly will probably progress as well - covering routings. Would be nice if multi tracks presets went the same way.

Instrument tracks was never necessary. It was a bad mistake that they are still trying to code their way around. I much prefer rack instruments. But, I don't use them anymore because they aren't supported by presets.

It's probably straight forward and easy to use for most applications - midi in and audio out, I can relate to that.zvenx wrote:Wow. Instrument tracks was a god send for how I worked.
Different strokes for different folks.

I think Cakewalk made a good choice in providing simple instrument tracks in their dialog - and synth itself still end up in rack. No difference in handling it then when importing or exporting - but simpifies handing in track view.
Steinberg again made a choice to paint themselves into a corner, kind of.
Both FX channels and racks are pretty much obsolete today - unless needing to do automation on extra outs Racks are indespensible. I only use group channels, and they can be freely placed now as well. And where track presets will go we have no idea.
I think that is why I feel that Cubase is not all modern, and need a cleanup of leftovers. A setting, Classic interface - New interface or something. And would like to get rid of channelstrip with EQ and dynamics if not needing it. You can hide the other stuff in that dialog - but center section occupy a lot of screen space, if you use plugins for that only.

This is exactly the point. I get why people think Instrument tracks are handy. But Steinberg created a brand new thing that just confused everything. Reaper, Sonar and other DAWs have done a much better job of dealing with the complexity associated with using MIDI, Plugins and various routings complexities. And they managed to do it without trying to hide the fact that MIDI is MIDI, Audio is Audio, VSTi is VSTi etc...lfm wrote: I think Cakewalk made a good choice in providing simple instrument tracks in their dialog - and synth itself still end up in rack. Exactly what happened? Did you insert the code? Did the License Center showed you the prompt to select the key where is the previous Cubase (eligible) license? Did you select it' Did it show the message that it was downloading license and tht you shouldn't disconnect key? Did you try to recover download?mchannemann wrote:I just got my 8.5 update ordered, installed it and then when I want to update the license from 8.0 pro to 8.5 pro...

As you see, lots of questions that you didn't clarify. Besides, this is the kind of thing that you really need to contact support for.

First of all, you should check if you are running the latest version of eLicenser, just in case. If you are, did you try to download license again? Did it show a message telling that code as alreadu used? Also, look for an option to recover from download crashes. If nothing of this helps, my only suggestion is to e-mail support with a descrption as detailed as possible about what happened. Be objective and descriptive.mchannemann wrote:yes it says don't disconnect and its downloading when I restart the program after it crashed to desktop it does just look like before trying to upgrade

Hi FMR,
I downloaded the latest and installed it since last time and to no avail no difference, it still accepts the number and offers me to select the license to upgrade. I clicked on recover and it says succesful and then shows a 8.0 pro license

If it still accepts the number, at least you didn't lose anything, so far. Probably, there is some kind of communication error with their servers. Better wait, and try again tomorrow, or something. Maybe it then works.mchannemann wrote:Hi FMR,

There seem to be A LOT of server communication errors recently.
For example, the "Hub" also connects to their blog. And this one spits out error messages every time I load Cubase. So I wrote Steinberg that something is wrong with their HTTPS script, and they told me to just "turn off the hub". Yay, a feature I actually use (at least the project selection). So i wrote them back "not doing that", then they told me to "update the security settings of the browser" (in this case, IE - which is still on "med to high" and I don't touch it otherwise as I use Firefox"). So i wrote back "sure, I'll setup a browser that I never use - why not FIX your server issues in the first place"?
Those issues being:
- slow loading times (on a DSL 16Mbit line)
- sometimes you get an error message that "page can't be loaded" due to "security reasons" (again, DSL 16Mbit line), etc.
It's annoying what issues a small change to a server can cause.
So if the license server also got an overhaul in recent days, and you can't "acquire" your properly paid for license... that is not great.
You still have a couple of possible solutions however:
a) Steinberg forum
b) call them in their very limited phone-support window (also - super expensive!)
c) Twitter
Sometimes this is way faster than the ticket system (actually, it currently is faster - since tickets can be answered weeks late!)
