I wanted to participate in the OSC for a long time. This month I was finally able to do that. So here's my entry:

I enjoyed making the track and hope to push my limits further creating tracks for the upcoming challenges.
That's super cute! Has a great chiptune feel to it! And I like the portion of madness in it, too! GREAT to have you on board! :tu:
Yay, thanks! I like to have some madness in a track because it creates nice contrast. And contrast is what makes a track interesting. Without it, the track would be boring.

Oh, uhm...I think you might like my track for this month! 8-)
...plenty of contrast there, I'm afraid! :scared:

Cool track, always interesting watching someone else work, though one question, doesn't he have to turn off the Chorus part of those Reverbs, just something I have done when using Live's reverbs for OSC so it fits in the rules.

Erm, don't wanna be a spoiler, but those toms sound so realistic to me, that I cannot believe you used noisemaker for the sound generation.... Did you? :?

Maybe you can give me some hints? Did you use multiple instances and only filtering in the synth or additional daw filters?

So impressive, these toms... :o

Post

Is it allowed to use a convolution ir of a drum?

Sure it's only the Noisemaker. Indeed I used multiple instances for nearly every piece of the drumkit, the snare has about 12 of them :D That's how I got to 95 instances.
Filtering was only done with the Noisemaker but of course there's some additional eq'ing done in the mix.
I read an interview with Jaap Eggermont once who stated that drums are only pieces of hum and hiss put together, so there you go: I had a ball with the noise generator. :)
For cymbals and rides I added the FM function to the layers.
And of course I just HAD to use one preset from Jasinski, the hihat :hihi:
Last thing: bjporter knows all of my secrets :D :D

Hm, I guess, the thing is, the drums are above and beyond everything else in the track. ...doesn't surprise me that you'll get a question about it. :hihi:
...not like it's "bad", don't get me wrong, but there's a quite significant difference in nature.

I'm guilty of pushing the drumkit, Yes!
I don't mind people asking, it's an open and friendly community :tu: :tu:

Welcome to the world: songs need names. :)
Of course noisemaker being a Juno copy I started reading about Roman mythology on wikipedia and from there Greek mythology and so on and so on...
Sometimes my song names come right to me. Other times I get stuck, so I just go here and play around until I get inspired:

Just because it's insane doesn't mean it's a bad idea.
