Something "bluesy" or such, that will make use of
soft/light distortion and clean amp sounds.
Single coin and humbucker would be great ! :)

Hi Dimitar,
from you I would love to have something for
HEAVY distortion !

But sure you can try the soft way too if you like. ;)

Thanks to both of you !!! :hail:

OK, here you are.
Used my Ibanez 335 clone (very old, very good, no freaking Artist series model - unfortunately tough to tune...) and my Anderson strat.
Tried to cover most of the ranges with each pickup or combination of them. But be aware, I just noodled around.
Used the Hi-Z input of my Edirol, fed directly by the guitars, straightest way I can go for now.
MP3s are 160kbps/mono (around as good as 320/stereo), so that should be sufficient I think.
You'll have to cut out the interesting bits.

Some sounds are suitable for more overdrive, some only for a slight bit of it, some might better remain clean.

Bridge PU of the Anderson in humbucking mode. No high gain PU but pretty much harmonic IMO.

Sascha Franck wrote:Btw, to me it seems there's another major problem with native guitar amp emulations, which actually isn't related to the actual software: The input stage that is!
By now, I have been trying out various combinations of soundcards and *whatever* sort of devices to bring my guitar signal up to line level (which defenitely is required).
Yes Sascha, you are absolutly right !
Thats why my amp has a input gain knob,
no such problems here. ;)

So, did the files work for you?

Hi Midiworks, I can record a few SRV licks using either my Levinson Blade R1 or Tokai AST-56 (both single coil strat type, Blade has an active EQ option). If you are interrested I can upload them on Monday (I hope it's not too late). My record chain is gtr->M-audio audiobuddy->audiophile2496 (CRT monitor turned of :hihi: )

Cheers

Yes ! Very nice and usefull takes, thanks Sascha !
Guess we posted at the same time. :D
(see above)

What I am still missing are some open chords,
maybe picked, to get that chorus sound flying. ;)

Also I wonder what an acoustic guitar may sound like... (Dimitar ?)

I'm not Midiworks, but I think a true Strat (which IMO the Tokai pretty much is) would be good to have... my Anderson is a bit sweeter than most strats.
